I was hoping it's a VD interview (

"Hardcore RPGs sell shit, genre is dead, they'll never make anything as good again, they make games for morons now"
"B-but...-"
"Why do you think your channel doesn't have a million subscribes and you'd never get any good money? While fucking pewdipie shouts like a moron and could throw his feces on screen and get x200 more than you do?"
(Matt runs away in tears)
"Good fucking riddance"

I kid, I know VD probably likes Matt, he wouldn't make him cry
...uh, I hope.

Matt's 'RPG-is-combat' legacy kind of screws him in AoD. He even notes how he sees the non-combat route is more optimal, but is unable to follow it. :D

Matt's wasting of AP in the AoD video triggers me :argh:.
I am triggered that he didn't use the starting iron dagger instead of the bronze one because he goes "biggerer is betterer".

Also triggered that he took a path that led him directly out of Teron away from delicious SP.

I'm on an actual spaceship. No joke.
This one wasn't bad.

On the subject of FMV, I don't understand the hate. Well, it's a tragedy when it sucks up all the money that could be better spent on other things, but it's a lot more charming having these B-movie clips in a game than boring-ass unskippable cutscenes. And some people did it right.

And then Adrian Carr made it awesome.

I think the biggest problem with FMV is one you said yourself: most of the time it doesn't add anything and consumes a ton of money (see WC3/4 and Terra Nova), and in the worst case it completely changes the gameplay into something terrible (Phantasmagoria). Even GK2 is good despite the FMV, not because of it. I think the only series that managed to really make the FMV an organic part of its atmosphere is Tex Murphy. Sure it does have a lot of charm sometimes even when it does cost a lot (again WC3 and TN) but is it worth it?

Matt was interviewed in a podcast: http://www.critical-distance.com/2016/03/22/episode-34-chat-with-matt/

During our interview, we talk about the facts of interviewing, setting them up, the behind-the-scenes work going into them and how to develop a rapport with the subject. We also envision future uses of the material he has produced and archived on his remarkable channel.

They linked a long file lol

This is the right one: http://www.critical-distance.com/podcast/Critical-Distance-Confab-episode-34.mp3
