Found the wolf pup, was so small that I kept missing it but still hear it's bark... Adorable.

The tapes are quite nice, not only you get some history lessons filtered through Kojima insanity filter but you get to hear most of Kiefer's lines there.

It's kinda strange how you can miss the wolf that easily despite being heavily advertised... looks like a mismatch between development and sales.

And my main complaint about Snake here is that people talk TO him, not WITH him. He's not a character at this point, he's merely a tool.

Which makes him so fucking cool. You know who he is. You know what he's been through. The man is a weapon incarnate. I find it really refreshing. I was surprised how little dialogue there is.

This will be the best MGS since the original NES one.
This is really admirable, since it started out as a mediocre Bionic Commando clone, and not a very good one at that. But who cares, Hideo Kojima will prove again that he's the gaming's equivalent of Kubrick, Nichols, Lean, you name it.

The World is Yours Kojima.

May your next game deliver as much as this one, I'll obviously pay the top dollar, and everyone else should too.

This game is really, really fun. Having a blast. I totally forgot about how batshit Kojima is, though, and the game puts the insanity right on the front page.

As for playing on PS3... yeah not ideal but it's holding up pretty well. Can't say load times are "hideous" (about 15 seconds for missions, a second or two to load menus), but I couldn't get online, so maybe that's part of the problem.

Really liking what I have seen so far. You really feel helpless in the beginning, crawling like a worm etc. Those execution scenes were very tense.

World in Afghanistan also seems huge with lots of stuff to explore and read/listen to.

Has the 'Cipher' Unit been mentioned before in any MGS game? I feel like I am missing something here. Also, as said, its been a while, but the Phantom Pain Character is not the same Snake as it was in MGS1 and 2 right?

The Snake in this one is Big Boss; who was the one you played as in MGS3 and Peace Walker.

Cipher Unit, no, but Cipher = Zero from MGS3. Zero and Big Boss used to be friends but they had a falling out and are at each others' throats now.

Game is a direct sequel to Peace Walker, and follows the events of the ending of that game in the form of ground zeros.

Kojima in his wisdom decided that having Solid Snake be an all conquering dudebro blowing shit up in the name of peace was too simple, so players got to play as prolific sperm donor, serial PMC founder Naked Snake/Big Boss, who was the antagonist of the first 2 MG games.

You can read up on him here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Boss_(Metal_Gear)

I was actually surprised how hard it was to miss him. In all the trailers and gameplay he was in Africa. Yet now he shows up in at least two missions in Afghanistan so far. One main and one side OP. I wasn't even sure it was him at first and just kept running by.

And yes. There are times when Big Boss says nothing when he should say something. Kaz gives him entire scenes in which he doesn't react. Yet in the tapes he proves to be knowledgeable and talkative.

Who is Ocelot working for? No way he just ran into Miller out of D blue

MGS4's plot was all over the place. But ultimately he was working for his own ideals. Just like his mother.

The fight against Sahelanthropus was amazing. Fighting against a giant mecha with impressive AI in an open sandbox environment was so cool. There were moments when I was holding my breath and almost pissing myself over if Sahelanthropus would detect me or not. If only western companies that make sandbox games invested some time and effort into making non-shit AI as well. Kojima is a genius!

While it is quite easy for enemies to gang up on you, I do wish we had the option of playing it on Hard vs Normal.

One question: is it possible to call the chopper and travel to a new destination point without returning to the stupid cockpit menu in between? It wastes too much time. It's Bloodborne's not being able to warp between lanterns all over again.

No, it's a pain the ass. For some reason you can at the mother-base, though. =_=

Although you can unlock fast traveler via box at every major location, if anything.

How bad do you think ps3 version will be? Hyper console peasant here, comp broke and won't be able to fix it for about 2-3 years

It's ok, definitely not DAI PS3.

If anyone is interested in getting it dirt cheap (10 euros) for the ps3, just do a search for "Metal Gear Solid V Ps3 digital" and buy one of the spanish (it's multi language) versions on ebay, the guy will then send you account details to download the game and register it to your account. I do this for all of my ps3 games and its incredibly cheap.

Btw I realized today that you have to kick out old soldiers with shit stats if you want to recruit new ones with better stats. I thought they might automatically replenish the ranks with better soldiers, but that isn't the case. I've been going through the bottom feeders with E, D and C ranks and just throwing them out. You'll lose levels but gain more when you get people with better ranks. Kinda of a pain in the asst, but whatcha gonna do? Also take a look at where Miller has put the soldiers. I thought he'd allocate them by where they are best suited, but I found a guy with A+ in Combat doing R&D with a E rank in research. Probably because I recruited him before unlocking the Combat Unit.

Got to Africa and it's p. cool. Gonna spend some more time doing optional missions again to rebuild my team with better stats and research more gear. 2 levels away in R&D from being able to research the 2nd tier Sneaking Suit. Just researched a tranq sniper so capping people should be so much easier now :d, although maybe the D-Walker is best suited for that since it comes with a tranq gn. Just run n' gun and take everyone you want!
