Why Early Access?
MONOMYTH is a vast RPG developed by a single person, featuring numerous complex systems including combat, dialogue, and even small features like playable instruments. In addition to these mechanics, the game has a substantial amount of content.

The goal of Early Access is to receive feedback and ensure that all these systems are interacting correctly. Player testing will help fix subtle design flaws and make sure that the game runs efficiently on a wide range of machines.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
The game will approximately remain in Early Access for six to twelve months.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
I plan to introduce three additional major areas during the game's early access phase.

I also plan to improve the combat and AI systems further. The full version is intended to offer a wider selection of spells, weapons, and enemies.

Additional quests are planned as well.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?
Currently, the game features two major areas, a central hub, and several smaller dungeons. All character skills and side features, including blacksmithing and fishing, have been implemented. The game's data includes all spells and weapons. Numerous enemy types, puzzles, and environmental challenges are already in place.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
There are no plans to increase the price during Early Access. However, after the full release, the price will increase based on the final scope of the game.

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?
MONOMYTH was originally funded through Kickstarter. It receives regular project updates and video devlogs, which are also posted on Steam. The game has an active Discord server, and the developer engages regularly with the community on the Steam community hub.​

It's shitty that some dope already left a negative review about the EA being unbalanced. Apparently if a mere 92% of reviews are positive you get just "Positive reviews" on steam which probably we all know usually indicates something questionable. I'll be leaving a positive review later today to try and sort that as I know it will be important for the success of the game.

I remember RatTower originally had a hiliariously (tragically?) optimistic schedule which he must have missed massively - but I rate him, 100%, for actually getting his shit out the door, even if it's not all there yet.

Hope he makes enough bread on this for it all to be worth it (and for us perhaps to get something else from him at some point).

That's extremely optimistic for a single-man-show. Multiply by that 3, and even that's conservative (unless he's doing it 100% full-time).

Well, cautiously keeping an eye on this.

And, of course, I'll likely buy it *when it's finished*, even at full price.

Not really. Anything above 80% is good enough for people to check out if it interests them.

You can kick people, but they won't ragdoll (it'll play an animation instead) and there aren't really any environmental hazards to kick them into. Sometimes the animations will glitch out and let the enemy hit you even while they're lying on the floor, so you can't even use it to score a few risk-free hits on your opponent. It's only useful for interrupting enemies when they're trying to drink a potion.

I remember playing the demo, and enemies didn't really react at all to being beaten on melee. What I hate most about Skyrim.
Still, following this game, its a desperation genre and I'll try everything once.

Boo fucking hoo. Out of eight people who've played the game, one did not like it. Paid money for it, was entitled to a review, and filed a goddamn review? Truly, the West has fallen.
Don't be ridiculous. If the game's enticing enough, there will be vastly more people to play it, and positive reviews will outweigh anything else. If it doesn't turn out so, it's RatTower's own goddamn fault for not promoting the game enough.
There's hundreds of games released at once. Takes piss and vinegar to stand out.

You sound upset. My only point is that it's dumb to leave a negative complaint about game balance for an early access game. Sorting out balance is sort of the point of any early access period. You might as well leave a negative review saying "wasn't able to complete the game as it is unfinished".

You're probably right on his optimism.

Worth noting though, that everyone only bought games when they were finished many good games would never happen. Imagine if you yourself had an idea for something worthwhile. How do you fund yourself for a few years to work on it full time? Kickstarter is as important as Steam in allowing good non-AAA games to happen. If you are at all interested in the kinds of games this forum follows you should occasionally be putting your money where your mouth is and backing a couple of them. The alternative is a world solely consisting of ultra-pozzed AAA shite.

It's a worthless point to raise. Steam aggregates reviews, with top games having thousands of them - are you going to read them? Are you even going to skim through them? How many of them are Positive indeed, but fucking retarded just like some Codexers I know personally have posted?

Quantity is the only thing that matters with Steam reviews.

Very true. It's just I get nausea from FPS games, so I'm not 100% convinced I'll be able to spend tens of hours with this to complete it.

I usually tend to fund titles that I'm 100% sure I will play and enjoy. I've done so with Legend of Grimrock 1 and Colony Ship, and I don't regret it.

(Well, and Stasis too, and although that was a bit of a disappointment, I don't regret that either.)

Steam doesn't give mostly/very/overwhelmingly until you reach a certain number of reviews. Even 100% positive will only be displayed as "Positive" without a qualifier in front until a sufficient number of reviews has been reached.

I think the reasoning behind this is that small indie games with few players tend to get positive reviews initially, and if a game has only 5 reviews and they're all positive, that doesn't really qualify as overwhelming yet. I don't know the exact threshold, but 50 or 100 reviews might be where it adds the qualifier.

That's a good system. You need to take the number of votes into account; you get strange results when the sample size is too low.
