^ To be fair - that was a cover. What was inside was faaar less impressive.

I actually wanted to find some of the pictures from inside, because I actually remember them being really good. I remember oil paintings, made in a natural style, with a minimum of supernatural or impossible things like oversized weapons and such. There were also sketches, and those were indeed worse, but the colour paintings were good. There was one with a ranger in a field of snow...? Man, it's been a long time. I would never have guessed I'd look back at that as some high standard of fantasy art, but I just can't stand the look of this new stuff. I gave away my books a long time ago (yeah, I know), and the cover picture is the only one I found in 5 minutes searching.

I guess I'll go torrent those 2nd edition books..

Game will remain true to the first two games through its mediocrity. I'm shocked though that no one is discussing who will bravely lp this shit.
EDIT: Eyes playing tricks on me.

Uh, this isn't NWN3 or NWN. It's just "Neverwinter".

Am I the only one who thinks NWN was great if you ignored the SP and focused on MP/DM Client/Toolset etc?

Especially for 2002.

I think there is even a turn-based combat mod for it.

I thought this thread was about NWN, too.
Yeah, I heard about the neverwinter console thing but wasn't expecting this shit in RPG discussion.

Anyway, filled in my first report!

Whoah, that's horrible! Is this how fantasy art looks like today? It looks like they're trying to adapt to those horrendous 3D game visuals.

I still remember the paintings from my 2nd edition books..

then: conan
now: boobs

difference? none but nostalgica.

edit: and the artwork isn't "anime", MTG art has been looking like this for years. it's standard american fantasy & comic art or whatever you want to call it.

No way man, MTG is one of the last places where you can still see some "sober" fantasy artwork, even animu-as-fuck character concepts like Alucard Sorin still have great artwork:

You can't compare that with what we see in D&D 4th and Pathfinder:

Straightforward medievalism plus fantasy cheesecake was the rule in AD&D

They really did subtract the medievalism and replace it with video game paper doll aesthetics. To go with the video game rules

Here's a direct link to AD&D 2nd edition Player's Handbook from my server. No need to thank me, just doing my duty.

If anyone has any other requests, feel free to post them.

I just hope Ulminati isn't a mod in this forum.

Diablo 3's female barbarian initially had a more "realistic" body and that was mocked too. For warrior women, seems like you either go anime or man with boobs.

That's because there is no such thing as warrior women. They should just stick to serving ales and warming beds.

I'm sorry, but I don't see that big of a difference. The top is more colorful and stylized, while the bottom is more earthy in color and equally rediculous looking.... is he really flexing and the door is exploding? I don't know, I've never been satisfied with fantasy medieval art of any letter. It's all incredibly generic and does little to interest me.

I'm not sure this should be in the MMO section. From my understanding Neverwinter won't be a MMO, rather a single player game with coop support. But who the fuck knows anymore.

Hey, several of those animations date all the way back to Champions Online. By that I mean most of them do.

It's a Cryptic game, so it's probably quite adequate to describe it like that, and it's supposed to come with their Foundry content creator software that's currently in Star Trek Online.

Actually, I can get to the Closed Beta when it starts. I could tell the Codex some discreet impressions in the limits Cryptic and their Chinese Overlords will let testers do.

PS: AD&D fags are just jelly that Pathfinder is the best D20 iteration there's ever been.

p. sure it's an mmo. less of a traditional one and more similar to guild wars in structuring.
