I daresay we would have got both by now if the Tavern was 'open' as an option earlier.

You mean you would've donated more than the $0.5 you did?

Naturally, DU will have the final say on this, but again, we did this fundraiser for an adventuring party, and the Codex exclusive rewards were also aimed at an adventuring party. Cramming all those rewards on 3 NPCs would be extremely stupid.

I could try negotiating with Obs for a smaller location for those $3k extra we've collected, but personally I believe the base $5,000 should go to the party tier.

Of course. A bunch of throwaway NPC's that would have had the names of Codexers stamped all over their belongings seemed pretty shitty. I'll throw down my green for a Tavern though.

You guys should get a tavern. A Codexian Ale House would be way cooler than some random Codexian adventure troupe (though that would still be cool).

Think of it logically. You can also pick up a few NPCs (with the extra funds) and ask to place them in or around the tavern. Moreover, I am sure if you pick up the tavern, they will naturally let you design some of the other folks in the tavern itself (innkeeper, watress, etc). Its just better. Plenty of NPCs AND a space for them.

Do it, so that we can get to 10k. Here's your chance!

We'll end up with probably 4 NPC's. The extra loot could be strewn about the Tavern, on the wall etc. Would actually make more sense than having each NPC carrying 20 sets of weapons, shields and jockstraps just to reward Codexers. So really the loot and items are being crammed on 6 NPC's as it is!

Ok if not a full Tavern, then the remains of one, some encampment etc. where it would actually make sense for the rest of the Codexer loot would be stored.

I suppose it was what was advertised. But who know maybe we will make it to 10K.

It would be awesome to have a Codex tavern in a game. An actual BUILDING. How awesome is that? I havent visited the site in a few years, just came back because of PE but, man, that would be good times. Also, doesn't a tavern full of swarthy misanthropes fit the Codex better than an adventuring party?

Shevek is the man. He knows that a Codex tavern has heart and it has soul. If it played the blues you'd listen. A bunch of NPC's with silly names and some silly named and described loot on the other hand is juvenile, banal and shitty. Any fan made IE mod can do the same thing easily. Making a actual in-game location on the other hand is a lot more work and having a Codex tavern made by the Obsidian artists themselves is fucking cool.

I can't afford it, but I'll slap down 100 some meagre amount relatively(much more than 50 cents of course but much less than moneybags like mind2x) for a Tavern if there's a likelihood that others will join the fight!

Ya, a tavern would be part of the LANDSCAPE. Some artist will render that thing and write the words CODEX on the sign with beer mug or some dice or something on there. They will have a pass through with some dude hand painting that thing to perfection. Come on, how do you pass that up. When else will someone make a place designed to be like these forums as a place in a game?

Personally, I think I'd left the whole thing to to Obsidian. They've lurked the forums for years so they know us. It'd fun to see how they perceive the Codex. And besides, unspoilt surprise is the best.

We already have more than enough than just for a party or just for a tavern, so, by default, there people have joined this fight since more than 3 days ago. Stop making excuses and chip in. Come to the deousing showers as a true Codexian hero, not as a fity cent :kfc:.

See, that's a good reason to throw down the other $50 so that you can communicate to DU, via the PayPal comments box, the fact that it was really you donating the first $50:D.

I'll wait to see if it has any effect first. I'm still debating a boxed copy on KS. If I knew for certain that it would be like with W2 and have the tiers available for eternity after the KS ended I would add here without reservation. As it is I think I'll have to make a 'downpayment' on some tier there first to be still counted as an early backer for the rewards.

Strangely, this seems like the most reasonable thing to do.

I agree. I would LOVE to see Obsidian's take on us within their own setting.

I don't know, with our luck we'd be the final antagonists. A tragic villain fighting for a good thing (RPGs), but sowing hatred and suffering at every turn pursuing his goal.

So I don't get a brofist for putting in, but someone else does? I guess I didn't put in enough then...well fuck you all!

Seriously it's good being a real Codex bro even though it's actually pretty shitty and pointless though strangely compelling, a bit like life really.... :salute:

As cool as a tavern would be, I do think the donation drive was started with a certain objective and set of rewards, and changing them at the 11th hour is probably not the best idea.
Sometimes the Codex gives you your opinion and what you think doesn't matter.

It's a trap, etc.

Ok. screw you all, I'll use the money to take the time to finish my own browser-based space game which I now have to rename, thanks to some assholes who stole it for their RTS.

I'm thinking something like "Warp-Zone" or... "Fuckin' Space Shootey Browser Shit Fuck Yeah".

Hmm... I could spend the $8k on a consultancy firm who could come up with the name for me.
