Which part of the goddam persuasion mini-game screams "love" at you, asshole?

Note I used the phrase "should be a labor of love". Try reading next time. It helps with conversational comprehension.

What's with the weird phraseology, guy? "you people" is generally directed at the people you are talking to, not about. Lay off the goddam gibberish, it'll help "conversational comprehension" more than anything I could do.

Screens look like shit. Everything is grey and bland, like some generic Resident Evil clone.
I fail to see Fallout style there. All looks different from how it should, from vault suits to wasteland itself, and different in a bad way.

O, the irony. For someone with a name like "Futile Rhetoric" you seem to have a hard time understanding rhetorical speech.

Now, I want to buy gadgets.

Do we get a Mass Effect style merchandise?
For example a long-sleeve 101 suit? Coffee cup with a feral ghoul biting your hand? The incredible and raffinate "generic soundtrack cd #43634"?

I really hope so  fallout 3

There's definately official soundtrack CD's for MW & Obliv for those who can't get enough Soule. Probably will be one for F3 too, but I guess they want to keep the music under wraps for now. Pity Mark Morgan isn't doing the soundtrack, something worth buying may have come out of it..

I have to say that the only soundtrack I can recall enjoying just based upon it's own merits was Mechwarrior 2. The ambient/techno soundtrack not only fit the atmosphere of the game but it was beautiful in it's own right and stacks up there (IMO) of some of the great ambient artists like Orbital or Amon Tobin.

I've never really played an RPG where I thought the soundtrack offered anything to the experience or could be listened to on it's own. Morrowind was alright for ingame, but I think you'd need vaginas for ears to listen to stuff like that on it's own.

Hmmmm, this gives me an idea for a thread topic...

You forget PS:T and its wonderful tracks, Nael.

Heretic.

Aw fuck. Now I have to explain once again how I really didn't care for PS:T. I couldn't ever force myself to get much further than the Dustmen. By that time my ADD kicks in and I get bored with it. I'll give it another run, but my hunch tells me your opinion of the soundtrack may be a tad biased :P

Сome on, not a single one? Hard to believe for me, since soundtrack mean so much for my enjoyment of the game...

Give me an example then, Hamster. I seriously can't think of one. I usually just turn the music slider down on most games after the first couple hours of play to be honest.

Well, my favourites are Baldur's Gate 1-2 + addons, IWD 1-2, Fallout 1-2(that was more like ambient sound than soundtrack, but i thought it was very atmospheric), Majesty, Mechcommander, Age of Empires, Star Control 2, and i can name more...
As you most likely played most of these games, it means you found their soundtracks unremarkable, which is strange for me...

I agree with you there. What I was really referring to was my response to Paolo about his comment concerning merchandise related to games that noone besides buttertrolls, and total fanbois care about. I was merely stating that the only game soundtrack I have ever enjoyed listening to while relaxing, driving my car, or anything besides playing the game in question was Mechwarrior 2. Nearly all of those examples you gave really work well in the game, but you'd never catch me rockin out to em while driving down the street. MW2 to me, was the rare exception. Fucking greatest soundtrack in a game. Hands down.

Now to other business...

Class is in session, child.

rhet·o·ric
Pronunciation[ret-er-ik]
–noun
1. (in writing or speech) the undue use of exaggeration or display; bombast.
2. the art or science of all specialized literary uses of language in prose or verse, including the figures of speech.
3. the study of the effective use of language.
4. the ability to use language effectively.
5. the art of prose in general as opposed to verse.
6. the art of making persuasive speeches; oratory.
7. (in classical oratory) the art of influencing the thought and conduct of an audience.
8. (in older use) a work on rhetoric.

My rhethoric>Your rhetoric

This is due to the fact that you don't understand rhetoric when you read it apparently. I don't actually have ADD, I was using it as a rhetorical device to relate my apathy towards the game in question (PS:T). My disinterest. Much like folks with ADD are disinterested in the minutia of almost everything. So yes, I guess I do have ADD, but it tends to only come out when I have to read through 5000 lines of drivel per conversation that everyone around here seems to think is the best thing since sex (I am referring to PS:T here in case I already lost you in my "confusing" post.)

Now, if you are finished totally derailing this topic, and making a total fool out of yourself we can go back to our respective troll caves. If you care to continue, be my guest. You're making my job far too easy.

EDIT: I realize I'm not always clear in my posts, but I honestly don't follow your rationale for the flames. It's like you are pissed off at me, because you don't know how to read or comprehend simple concepts.

Well, as a matter of fact, I do listen to Oblivion's soundtrack every now and then. Actually it's the thing that I choose to remember the game with - the great soundtrack - instead of the generic setting and boring and repetative gameplay.
Other OSTs I like listening to are Gothic 3's OST and Knights of Honor OST, which are both work of Borislav Slavov, a really talanted Bulgarian compositor. I listen to them quite often and find them really good so yeah, there are great game OST's out there, but it really depends on your personal tastes if you'll enjoy them out of the game or not.

Yeah, promo shots of oblivion were grossly exaggerated when compared to the final product. The lighting of the scenes and shadows were supposed to be far more dynamic looking.

The lighting here looked so much more realistic and detailed than the bloomy HDR they pulled off in their final builds.

Wow, this looks awesome... I really wanna play this, what game is this and where can I get it? TELL ME PLX

does anyone think that Soule is one of the crappiest soundtrack composers out there?
because he is - I doubt it's possible to find much more generic and bland soundtracks.
and F3 will have Soule - because being creative even for a second is not the way of Beth.

He's not crappy, he's just uncreative. His soundtracks aren't bad, they're just bland and boring. Nothing new. The most generic stuff out there. That's why Bethesda likes him so much. Go figure.

Jeremy Soule is the Hans Zimmer of the gaming world. He's not able to churn out anything that doesn't sound the same. You've listened one time to JS or HZ, you've heard them all. I want to kill a kitten every time I hear something that was touched by their dirty hands.
Not surprisingly, I've read some stuff written by Jeremy Soule praising Hans Zimmer. What a pair.

Bland and boring to me is the ultimate definition of crap. It's worse than actual amateur crap that would at least make you ironically laugh, smile or even make you feel hate or anger whatsoever for its author. At least it would make you *feel* something.
There is nothing to feel in JS compositions. It's lifeless.

Oh, one thing from Jeremy Soule made me feel truly negative emotions whenever I was listening to it, the tavern soundtrack in NWN1. God. What an awful piece of distracting shit.
