Hell, he even follows Japanese politics. That's how Japophile he is.

Might be just me, but if I was in position of power in any religious institution, I would not fucking let in anyone with red eyes.

Just, you know, a precaution.

Why must they make elven ears horisontal anyway?

I guess some old jap game or anime did it and they just kept doing it
Actually, it has something to do with the depictions of demons in Japanese mythology.

The problem is, the japs (aside the gay anime) are making really accurate Wizardry1 clones. While western devs converted Fallout1 or Daggerfall to something different...

Oh fuck yes A new Wizardry game!!!!!!!!!!! Yea it might have anime-ish art but whatever, how many other first person party based dungeon crawls are coming out these days. Especially on something that's not a handheld. Plus I think the high res sprites look kickass! I really hope they bring it out here in the states. If they do day fucking one purchase. :D :D

Problem is, being a Wizardry 1 clone is not something to be proud of since, like, 1985.

We love Wizardry for Dark Savant trilogy, with its vast numbercrunching, rich background and lore, innovative features like competing NPC parties or text input conversations. Wizardry 5 and before are about as valuable for a 1990+ gamer as Akallabeth for a classic Ultima fan. Yet, japs seems to be ever stuck in Proving Grounds of Mad Overlord and keep remaking it with bigger resolutions and new batches of animefag sprites.

I'd take Demise over any of these, as far as barebone dungeon crawling is concerned.

And seriously, guys... If those japanese Wizardry games are old school dungeon crawls i couldn't care less if they are anime style or stick-guy style or all monsters are digitalized pictures of has-been porn-star guys from the '70s. Weren't we the i-don't-care-for-graphics gang? Someone out there is still making dungeon crawlers and the hivemind goes hysterical because japanese guys draw like japanese guys draw? Amazing!

The hard ass Codex nigger crew has to rectify their professed love for dungeon crawls with their professed hatred of anime, therefore thread

The "JAPAN BACK THEN" picture cracked me up, but as has been pointed out elsewhere, all the guys on the right are taken off a "menu" of a date-for-hire night club. So on the right you have actors from tough guy movies, and on the right you have poofed-up prettyboys desperate to appeal to lonely women and dirty old men. So as funny as it is, you can do it with any country.

Allow me to demonstrate:

I don't care for graphical gimmicks. But I do care for art direction.

There's a big difference between the two that some Codexers fail to understand.

FAILED AT GRASPING CONCEPT

Try to find those rugged tough guys today. Not so smart now, are you?

Good point - for both the USA and Japan. You must count your piss hole as an eye, because you're fucking blind.

If it's as good as the PS2 game, I hope it comes to the US.

Yes, yes you have.

Er... yeah, that's the joke. You take a bunch of tough actors from a country's past, then show a bunch of prettyboys from the present, then everyone has a good laugh.

And yeah, Bruce Campbell and Clint Eastwood are technically still working, but there's hardly a new generation of -- look, did you actually think that the black and white pictures of bearded Japanese warriors were from modern films? Why are you having so much trouble with the concept?

Yes, what I exposed can be applied to both cases (sadly), but it's a different concept altogether: there are no tough guys in the present.

THERE ARE NO TOUGH GUYS IN 21ST CENTURY MOVIES - GEDDIT?

Only Will Smiths and Brad Pitts.

In before "NO U".

Nobody's arguing that.

The point was, you can do the "contrast grizzled movie veterans with modern prettyboys" joke with any country -- not just Japan. I don't see more legitimate tough guy actors coming out of Japan than America, so it's a perfect example.

Now care to explain how I "FAILED AT GRASPING CONCEPT"? And try not to use all caps.

It's strawman time, I see.

Borrowed the all caps thing from VD. I found it quite annoying, and using my incredible intelligence I deduced if I used it then it would annoy others.

Kind of like bAndhaira asking inane questions.

Right, so you have no explanation for your earlier "fail" outburst ("Try to find those rugged tough guys today."). Just checking.

The only thing I can imagine is that you somehow thought the bearded, black and white Japanese Samurai were from modern films. It'd be sad and hilarious, but at least it'd make a *little* sense, which is more than you've done tonight.

Unless of course the whole reply was a joke where you pretended to be a guy who "FAILED AT GRASPING CONCEPT " and didn't realize both sets of tough guys were from classic films... in which case, nice job Ace. Have a lollipop.
