A lot of people seem to. I'm not a fan of "release now we'll fix later" but I'm always open to a nice redemption story. Especially if it means getting a decent to good game out of it in the end.

Now that I think about it, all my favorite games in recent years have been games that launched in a poor and disappointing state and got updated into something worth playing.

What's there to redeem? The gameplay fundamentally relies on the Gather -> Craft -> Travel -> Gather cycle but its boring and meaningless as hell because there is nothing else to do. It's progress for the sake of progress without rhyme or reason. (Much like the leftist ideology the devs no doubt adhere to.)

Honestly i am impressed.

For me highlight is that you can now own whole group of big ships and unlike before those ships have now roles, support, combat, trade etc. So in theory you can make whole armada and fight wars.
I hope they will add more space combat in future updates and AI wingmen.

One would be surprised how apologetic some people can be about NMS. I just had a little argument with some bloke who tried to convince me that we should be thankful to the developers that they continue to support the game instead of running away with the money they earned so far. Yep, finishing your damn game people paid 60 dollars for is a privilige in this day.

Having loads of fun with this, game is 3—4x the game that was shown prior to release at this point. I hope public sentiment turns around so they can start monetizing it a little because I don't see how they can keep updating this for free.

This has only been receiving patches for two years. Imagine if this got the Warframe treatment where development continued for another three or four years.

1,5mln x (60$-40% on taxes/steamcut) = $45mln

divide 45 mln by 15 people

Even if they will work for next few years for "free" they will still be rich and that is assuming they won't even sell one copy (and game is still 60$ !!)
