At first I thought its probably a marketing thing....what with Gothic 3 slated almost the same time but since they now reckon its bugs they are fixing....well, dunno, I'm not all that keen on believing what devs say (Bethesda syndrome), altho its guarranteed the game will ship with bugs anyway....hell, its traditional these days

Well, no one forced you to preorder. I would think you'd have to be insane to preorder if you need to PAY for the privilege. I would never do that. I preorder on amazon, and when it ships I get it. For games I would preorder for, which are now few and far in between.

To preorder an atari game at all you have to be a sucker, though. I would at the least wait a month and see if there are crippling bugs. How someone could expect NWN2 to be an awesome game is beyond me - I will just have to wait and see if it's even mediocre before deciding....

Considering I only had to shell out five bucks to preorder a game I intended to buy anyway, I don't see it as being a big deal, especially since it is only a deposit against the full price. Are there places where you have to pay extra to pre-order? This is news to me.

As for the game crippling bugs, most, if not all games ship with bugs. And then they are patched and all is good. Admittedly, it would suck to not even be able to play it, but buying games is a bit of a crap-shoot these days anyhow. I'm pretty much going by how much I enjoy the original, and I don't mean the OC.
