Oblivion won't be the worst game ever.

Can you feel it? Can you feel that pure, concentrated hate? It is the anger and rage of many years of torment in the locker rooms in middle school. It is potent enough to slap you in the face over the Internet and leak all over your brand new desk. Fear it. If you know what's good for you.

Bandwagon jumping will not make you popular.

Bwahahaha!

Since its obvious the written word is wasted on these clowns, I guess the persuasion game is a boon for them.

If any adult can play something like kotor or oblivion and get any true enjoyment out of it, then I worry at what a loser they are.

There is a great amount of irony in this statement.

I would advise you to get off your fat ass, and please, go hang out with friends.

I think they're Bethesda's devs.

I don't have much of a life, so I enjoy bitching about whether games are RPGs or not. Really. Not much else to do in my life.

It's not funny, or much an of an insult.

Bryce, what don't you like about Oblivion. What makes it, to you, a bad or pseudo-RPG, and what do you consider to be a better/real RPG?

The only thing worse then biased fanboy-ism is an absolute prejudice towards a game despite evidence that it will turn out quite well. I recognize Oblivion's flaws. It chose to involve a broader audience and sacrificed features to appeal to them, thus weakening its system. But that doesn't stop me from seeing the good points of the game. The graphics are incredible, the physics system impressive, the RAI interesting, and the combat system is enjoyable. You will of course disagree with this opinion and may choose to insult me with an immature response, but if I cared I woudn't bother posting this. Everyone has their own opinion and to say Oblivion is the worst game, let alone rpg, ever made is pure ignorance on your part.

thats what makes a good RPG alright.

I never understood the fasination with physics, it's rarely used in a meaningful way. WOWIE I CAN THROW SHIT AND ITS LIKE REAL LIFE, IM GLAD SHIT GOT AXED FOR THIS.

It's terribly gimmicky and/or pointless.

RAI has yet to seem any impressive. It sounds like it's exactly the same as Gothic 2's scripted sceduels, but with very non-frequent random events thrown in.

The combat system... Mount and Blade is better then what they've said about the combat.

And who gives a shit about graphics, damn.

Not again. How about reading a few EXISTING threads before posting questions that had been answered way too many times?

Is it a secret evidence that nobody else can see?

We are all very happy for you.

Of course. The graphics are merely ok, nobody gives a damn about physics in an RPG, the RAI is a cheap gimmick, and the combat system is arcade. Now we know that the persuasion system is crap too. Anything else?

Everyone has their own opinion and to say Oblivion is the worst game, let alone rpg, ever made is pure ignorance on your part.
Not sure about the worst, but it's shaping up to be a ridiculously crappy game, especially considering the previous games. Fuck, it's making Morrowind look good, which isn't an easy task.

I'll bet money... no, even better, I'll bet the gigs of hot hentai porn on my harddrive that the last three posters are devs.

Or Frankie.

Someone do an IP check.

Anyways, as for this shit-tastic comment:
The graphics are incredible, the physics system impressive, the RAI interesting, and the combat system is enjoyable.
1. Not really. The only incredible looking graphics are the ones that have been pre-rendered in the trailer and the ones that have been gussied up in photoshop to display on the webpage. Going by other footage and the "real" screenshots from the ruskies... the graphics are only a slight step up from Morrowind. If you want graphics on your shiny new 360, buy DOA4 (psst... it has flowing clothes!! and people have different body sizes!!)

2. What have we seen physics-wise? A log roll down, a ribcage tossed, and a monster dying while wildly bouncing to the ground. Silly dev, you can't fool us.

3. We know RAI can tell NPCs when to take a shit, but it can't do anything for quests. Sorry, Mr. Dev.

4. Okay, who are you trying to fool? Combat system enjoyable? We haven't been able to play it yet! We've only seen a few small videos of it (and in them, I might add, the PC did insta-killz on all teh monsters)! Pussy-ass dev. Post under your real name if you want to be a man about this.

Just because you sound like you give a little reasoning with your "Who gives a shit" and "screw you" posts that find there way abundantly over here. I'll reply towards yours.

The RAI at this point seems like alot of promises, but yes... that is what would make a good rpg. (Of course, they still need to allow players to roleplay through different dialogue... which has been done for over 20 years in video games...)

A fan of "RPG's" should find a little likeness in the physics starting to play it's role in the games. If done right it adds more to the "immersion factor" and the ability to actually "Role play".

Edit: Just so nobody mistakes me for liking the way physics plays its role in this, no i don't think it's been done right, but it is a major step up from normal games.

-- Graphics for the same reason... Alot of other games are getting better graphics and have a whole shit load less to do.

I can't really argue for their combat system. It looks like it's still below sub-par, but i guess I'll be able to check that out when i buy the game.

Just to ask, what's your game of choice right now?

Why? Doing a little market research.... eh, Pete?

Damn straight. I'd like to find out what "bad ass" game is in development.

Hell, i went from playing diablo 2 a long ass time ago, to playing morrowind and baldur's gate. For me, that was a step up. Where's another step?
