That's a terrible sign.

Seriously... am I about to be hit by a bus or something?

Look at things this way...

Relatively speaking, the game business is so far and away in awesome shape compared to every other non-essential industry except porn that there just isn't any room to complain. Xbox Live had it's biggest month ever in January I think.

Are individuals and individual companies going to have a hard time here and there? Sure.

Do I work in an industry where companies are still actively hiring all throughout one of the worst periods in U.S. economic history?

Yeah.

So I'm not real stressed about it.

If I made automobiles or sold houses for a living, I'd be a little more upset.

Depends on whether you slave away at the assembly line or not. But being a game dev puts you actually on the niveau of an assembly line worker, no? I guy at the assembly line I worked with as a summerjob at VW is payed 11 euro/hour, what do you make?

The gaming industry is one of few that is quickly growing despite the recession. Seems like a good place to be.

In the video game industry you don't get paid. You work in exchange for lap dances and rub downs.

I like this MLMarkland guy. His comments have increased the size of my penis on multiple occasions.

This thread would benefit with a picture of MLMarkland, J.E. Sawyer, Avellone, and Feargus all slapping their dicks on a big Alien statue. One of them can even tape a little piece of paper on the head of their dick and make it look like the second mouth that comes out of an Alien's mouth. That would be awesome.

Probably shoudn't anyway.

haha

As for the automobile workers vs. game developers comparison, I was more talking job security. Auto workers are often unionized so they probably have better benefits than we do. We do have great benefits though, so that might not even be correct.

Game development is potentially very lucrative if you stay at it long enough and are good at what you do. There are also a lot of assembly-line workers.

Starting out you don't make much, but the potential long-term upside is a lot higher. It's also heavily dependent on where you work and what you are working on. After a very successful release a developer might get as much as 100% of his annual salary in a bonus.

On the other hand, working in QA can be a slog through shitty wages in a place like SoCal where the cost of living is high.

But making games is pretty cool as jobs go, so there's pros and cons.

Also, judging by the pics in this thread you guys might want to check out this:

There is a reason you aren't supposed to use img tags for NFSW images, at least was but right, that was before some dickheads decided they weren't happy with the way Codex was run. Still, you could try being nice to those who access from less private spots.

The W in NSFW stands for "work", not "wankers" but maybe you mean to say that this should be a unemployed losers only site, as only those of us with jobs would have concerns about NFSW material during the day?
