[QUOTE="Cadius, post: 4499792, member: 17535"While I appreciate the clarification, I think jumping to their defense like this will only fuel the flames of speculation. I can already imagine the Kotaku headlines: 'Bethesda developer denies Obsidian developed Fallout spin-off on racist fanforum'.

I was going to let it go until he started posting OEI and my twitter posts.
Oh, you were definitely in the right. Be sure to divulge more insider information whenever you feel like it.

It doesn't matter but I wasn't trying to prove OEI were working on a Fallout game, I was just trying to prove Bethesda and Obsidian still have a good relationship with each other. Also, for the record, I did say no one should believe me.

Obsidian is not working on a Fallout game.

Look guys, I heard from a source of mine that come next week I'll be promoted to CEO of Zenimax Media, now you shouldn't believe this since I can't reveal said source but it's gonna be pretty cool.

I just really love to read forum conspiracy theories about what we are doing. The best part is when someone actually suggests something that is correct, but extremely specific. Makes me wonder if it is actually a developer posting. I haven't seen that in a while, though.

We know you are working on pre-production of PoE 2, at least. 3D Modelling, Story Design maybe some first pass area artwork ect.. This is bill from Armoured Warfare.. don't tell sawyer.

EDIT
Just got back from Carrie's desk.. the new companions are shaping up great.. Sometimes I like to pretend I still work at an RPG making company.. okay back to programming tank guns.

EDIT EDIT:
Anthony Davis just broke the build.. I'm getting yelled at in Russian. Thanks bro.

Actually surprised someone from Bethesda is an user here. Perfect timing with the post, too.

Jon is cool though, he used to work for Obsidian even though he at one point forgot update his job title from Junior Programmer, to Programmer.

So...is there another project in addition to AW, PoE2, Pathfinder and Tyranny? :M

I don't think Tyranny will have dragons or too much typical fantasy stuff, but I too would welcome a change of scenery for sure, some new IP set in the real world or a good sci-fi, or something that hasn't already been done to death like classic fantasy rpgs.
As for Fallout, Obsidian managed to pull out a great game with NV but it would've been even better if they didn't have to work on that framework, so why not make their own stuff? Now, of course they couldn't make an AAA rpg without a publisher like Bethesda, but who cares? A smaller project may be both more profitable for them and better quality-wise.

True, from the looks of it Tyranny does look a bit different from generic fantasy with dragons. The premise itself is very much different from those just alone, so even though it is fantasy based, there's still freshness to it. Another "generic" fantasy rpg after PoE would be kinda of disappointment when there's so many different settings they could be working on.

Yes, a smaller project can be highly profitable for Obsidian as proved by PoE. If they save up some of those profits, they just might get to make their own "Skyrim" at some point if their recent success continues and they don't just use all that money on crack and whores.

Well, not after Feargus assassinated funcroc. Everyone else is just too scared to take his place after what happened to it/him.

funcroc was a legend even when I started in 2006. At one point I thought funcroc was a developer or had a developer contact. He was that on point at times.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Serpent in the Staglands Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Project: Eternity Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Bethesda higher-ups barely even show up in the mainstream games media, let alone on the Codex. It was hilarious how everybody did interviews with MCA and Brian Fargo before FO4 was released because there was nobody else to talk to.

Yeah. I only got to know him 2009 forward but it was insane how fast he got information. He always posted sources as well which is actually how I learned of Linkedin and such (its stil not very well known over here). He did let off starting around 2011 though IIRC and I even managed to post some stuff before him. He posted less and less after.

The most insane thing I've seen him do was pulling out that interview with Nathaniel's mom. Out of nowhere.

PoE cannot be replicated, mind you. The expectations were so high that they became unreasonable, and the so-called "Renaissance" has already happened. It doesn't help that none of its games (so far) lived up to the hype. D:OS was a positive surprise because people didn't expect much, but that's the one exception. If TTON disappoints, it could make things worse.

The thing about Tyranny is that they don't own it, so it won't be nearly as profitable as PoE. We don't know their deal with Paradox, though. Could be better than the old budget+bonus at least.

As for their own Skyrim, that's another league entirely. They'd need deep pockets for it, and there's not a single publisher investing in that kind of project right now. Obsidian seems to have aspirations to become Marvel or DC, but the market and their business model will never allow them to become more than Dark Horse.

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Divinity: Original Sin 2 A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath
Hey, Cadius, kudos for clarifying!
BTW why don't other folks from Bethesda post here? We would like to see, say, Todd Howard posting on Codex!
After Infinitron said that Josh Sawyer would probably be assaulted by a non-trivial percentage of the userbase if they met him on the street, one wonders what would they do with Todd Howard if he just posts on the Codex...
