Alpha Protocol and Tyranny were both pretty good settings / IPs. The gameplay was just a bit lacklustre in the former.

PoE is kind of bland but that's because they were trying really hard to have their cake and eat it too in terms of ripping off forgotten realms / appealing to Baldur's Gate 2 nostalgia while also trying to strike out and do their own thing. Delete all of the stock D&D / fantasy stuff that they imported for no discernible reason and the setting becomes a lot more focused.

He made the decision to change the combat system in a turn-based one. Regardless, I wouldn't give him much credit for that, since South Park is a mediocre game and its CS is far from great.

You heard it here first: Obsidian going back to their root of making a sequel to BioWare game. SEGA announces Sonic Chronicles 2 for Nintendo Switch. This marks the second turn-based RPG from Obsidian.

Alpha Protocol revitalized as an open world game with cinematic dialogue and base building, because that's what we do now. The Phantom Pain with role playing.

I don't think open world would work with Alpha Protocol. Open maps on the other hand, that would be great.

I don't know. Paradox (who owns the IP) and Obsidian have good relations. Also Leon Boyarski is back. A crude inference, but still.
