I don't care what Obsidian do, as long as they work towards the Goal: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-07-05-project-eternity-as-a-series-could-run-for-eternity

We at Activision-Blizzard are proud to announce our partnership with Obsidian Entertainment for future Call of Duty titles. Obsidian who has become known for its warfare related titles is the perfect fit to our long-standing franchise. Call of Duty: The Nameless Ones will release in Summer 2020.

Itz coming.

What if Obsidian becomes rich with POE?

a) They make Alpha Protocol 2 and lose all the money.
b) Buy Fallout/Arcanum franchise and lose all the money.
c) Keep the money inside MCA's cupboard.

There is one right answer.

d)Pillars of Eternity Online. Russian tanks and foppy elves fighting over comrade's cousin, what more could you want?

All of the Russians should stop their war and develop S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
Then Obsidian would make it (for paying bills) and...

Fallout: New Vegas 2.0 Post nuclear RPG developed by Obsidian!!!

It will seamlessly follow from where Planescape left off, with the Nameless One fighting in an eternal loop of pop-a-mole combat.

Now that I remember it, all that talk about how publishers were suddenly more interested in talking about crpgs because of Kickstarter was just the usual hot air. They could prove me wrong, but I doubt it. Also it's not proving me wrong if Obsidian's next publisher-funded project turns out to be a tablet-RPG.

Becoming rich with a 2D topdown CRPG
Worked for Bioware. BG and BG2 gave them so much clout there were able to take Neverwinter Nights to a different publisher mid-development.

I bet what happened was that smaller companies like Deep Silver and Paradox approaching them to publish their Kickstarted games, and that's about it. That's the "rekindled publisher interest".

Pillars of Shovelware.

Anyway, the only way I could see Obsidian doing well in next-gen is if they carved out their own unique niche (like Telltale did with their 'adventure games'). The Stick of Truth is their first RPG that wasn't subject to being labeled as a poor man's Bioware/Bethesda game.

No, big publishers actually approached them. They were even named. Though, nothing seems to have come of it.

That said, maybe it did and their current pitches are actually the result of that. After all at that point they were already deep into Armored Warfare and probably didn't want to take on another project till Stick of Truth was finished. Feargus even said something to that degree "I currently have x months time to take it easy in regards to new projects*

Holy FUCK, this is terrible news. Feargus's Black Isle days are behind him, I guess. Calling it now: in 5 years, people like Josh Sawyer will be working somewhere else.

Super confused. You think their making a World of Tanks clone will lead to more hardcore RPGs?

You guys are so clueless, it hurts.
