Josh looks like he's getting ready to enter the Matrix which is ironic because he didn't like it because he was sick of the Gibson-style cyberpunk aesthetic by then.

He likes Strange Days though and I do too. :yeah:

I believe it's often Darren Monahan operating their twitter account.

Obsidian's Twitter feed sucks. They really need to do something about that.

Good thing he's a co-owner so it's not like they can fire him.

Can you tell us your personal Top 5 of cliches you're sick of the most?

Let’s see... here’s four: (1) the bad guy is you, (2) amnesia, (3) female sexy handler, and (4) the midpoint-companion-betrayal are four that jump to mind, and I’ve done them all, so I have no room to talk. Although I don’t think I mind the clichés, it’s the execution that matters, and it only bothers me when they are done poorly.

In comics, though, it’s quickly becoming a cliché for “hot girl on motorcycle rides up to save the protagonist” which I feel has happened 5+ times this year in comics I’ve read. It usually happens halfway through issue #1, and my eyes hurt from rolling them so much.

Project: Eternity
In these interviews I always get the impression that Avellone like Torment and WL2 much more then PoE.

It's no secret that MCA likes post-apoc, and uh, weird settings more than he likes high fantasy.

However, he's also not allowed to say anything about PE's story, characters or lore, whereas inXile seem to be a bit more easy-going about that.

Maybe he shouldn't had pitched a High fantasy setting in the first place then. :rpgcodex:

But with that out of the way their second one is bound to be more interesting setting-wise.

That's... Not really surprising.

While Avellone probably generally prefers working on Wasteland (Sequel to favourite game) and Torment (Sequel to Planescape) he's never been one to toot his own horn.

On the contrary.

Seriously, do you recall him ever gushing over a game made by his own company?

So, I wouldn't read much into it.

We aren't actually sure how much input he has on Eternity. Eric and even Carrie didn't even mention him at all in both their recent outings (Narrative Update and Carrie's interviews). All we know is he is writing at least one companion.

He was present at some of the designer brainstorm meetings in 2012, but never contributed to the story or anything as far as we know, mostly "critiqued" it - kinda like what he's doing for Torment.

I *assume* he's doing some dialogue for non CNPCs as well? Someone should ask him perhaps

Excepting Alpha Protocol, which was an emergency situation, and New Vegas DLC, which had a small scope, Avellone's largely been "the companion guy" after kotor2. Whether NWN2, MotB, or NV, he's content enough to write a handful of characters at the most. Co-owner and creative director duties, as well as other projects keep him busy.

I want an RPG with world design by Tim Cain, Jason Anderson and Leonard Boyarsky.

These guys did some solid work. They are also getting balder and porkier. Looking around, it seems that the best creative work is often done by those under 30. Not as a rule or anything, but as a tendency. Got this feeling that the next F1, Arcanum or PST will come from some unknown in the next generation, maybe someone who grew up in the rpg golden years. Or Styg.
