No, the real question is: What Obsidian are we talking about? The Obsidian that delivered F:NV and MotB, or the Obsidian that delivered PoE filled with political correctness to the brim, and doesn't have CA, etc? Things have changed a lot in the last years. Saying that Obsidian did something good six or nine years ago with a completly different team is not reassuring.

PoE filled with political correctness? I don't think so, why do you say that? (apart from that backer incident)

There are SJW types in the game, but you can just murder them. It's your choice.

I get this odd feeling that it will be dripping with social justice diatribe.

Can ya quote some examples of past Obsidian SJWry. I keep forgetting what they've done aside from removing one backer story.

Dayum Trashos that timing, we were thinking the same thing.

Steamspy shows ~100k owners for Hatred on Steam - not bad for a boring B- potato twin stick shooter. More importantly, it proves that you can tell SJW to go fuck themselves, make a game that has nothing except shock value and still sell it on Steam, i.e. reach your target audience however small or large it may be.

I dunno about the whole thing of the world where evil won, sure it is a better premise than elves saving the world again but I'm afraid it still follows alot of fantasy tropes for crpgs. If you are on a world where some dark lord rule the land and contesting him means death, what you do isn't evil when you are being forced to do it. Is a guy that is forced to kill someone , evil? Evil implies choice and if choosing to be good means you are going to get seriously fucked, you chosen the evil path out of necessity not morality.

The most interesting forms of evil for me comes from decisions that compromise your values and people you thought were good that you like pressing you to make amoral choices but if you have no values and nothing to sacrifice as you are just an asshole that works for the dark lord, some shitty bureaucrat this is a pretty shallow take on evil. There is nothing wrong on doing a shallow take on evil but it isn't something I'm really hyped by, let's see how Obsidian's new writers deal with this but I'm not hyped for this especially after the very shallow way they treated the story themes on PoE.

"This game where you play as an SS officer managing an extermination camp is CLEARLY a vector for SJW Cultural Marxist propaganda. I'm wise to your ways, purple-haired scum!" :kingcomrade:

The premise is actually pretty cool. As someone already said, it's basically like Inquisitor but instead of being a paladin you'll be a death knight.

The only question is whether Obsidian has the talent to pull it off.

This game where you play as an SS officer
I thought the gimmick for this game was "Evil" and not "Lawful Good".

The world where judging from screenshots white cis het male wins is ebul for the new Obsidian at-least. I hope Tramp will win and make CRPGs great again.:mrpresident:

Exactly. Evil is an intention and it's only interesting when the characters decide to do it and in what context they do it. They are even calling the conqueror "evil", so they are missing the point entirely even from the basic premise of this setting. Ugh, it looks awful and the music is probably going to be done by that amateur hack who "composed" the "score" for PoE. It will also probably feature mind-numbing RTwP combat and the shit pie is complete.

This thread has serious potential to be the edgiest thread on the Codex in a long time. Basically 9 pages of

I HATE THIS GAME BEFORE I KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT!

NO, I HATE IT MORE KNOWING EVEN LESS!

Too many people confuse having high standards with behaving like an edgy teenager.

Don't know about the backer incident, don't care. The "perception" I got was from the preview.

It is the PoE effect man, now if Obsidian announced this game right after their high point, MotB, the reaction would be another completely different story.

Can't hate the game, I have no real information on it to do so. I just know that when concepts such as "evil" are thrown around in this day and age, it usually ends up carrying the political narrative of today.

This.. we had a fuckfest ongoing for days because a backer made a (benign far as i'm concerned) joke about transvestites. All that for a simple joke. And you want to tell me they've got the balls to handle 'evil'? Get the fuck out of here.. in before 3,4,5 variations of saving the world, albeit with some taste of bitterness left in mouth (see? We handle 'evil' maturely!111) because 'x' secondary factor occured to you.. poor poor thing, cry me some rivers.. deep+engaging, would play again..
Also, 99% chance it's RTwP ^^
