I can eat everything what Sawyer want to feed me but i want to see good combat system first.

NWN2 combat was shitty as fuck, FNV had problems with balance (like stimpaks and drugs everywhere), DS3 is diablo clone, Kotor2 combat wasn't any different that you standard rpg mediocrity. All of them have something in common. They were real time.

It will be funny to watch and see InXile delivering better combat than PoE due to its use of superior TB combat in both W2 and T:N

But i would absolutely love to see Obsidian take on TB. Maybe with new kickstarter for new IP

"Having to return to the thieves guild repeatedly i remember (last played BG2 a long time ago), navigating the docks district with the only exits are at the top of the map for example."

Is that your big bitchfest about Athkatla design? You gotta navigate the dock destrict to visit the thievs' guild multiple times because for the first 3 chapters theya re an important part of the game/ HOLY FUCK FUK!

I could think of more worthwhile things to whine about if youa re gonna whine about Athkaka? FFS

\P.S. Any idiot who takes part in the 'backer beta' is a retart. Plain and simple.

Combat is, from what i have read about PoE, my biggest worry. all these classes have somewhat complicated abilities and synergies to manage... all in real time, and lest i play this as a real time turned based game by constantly pausing, i can see it getting out of hand quickly in harder fights.

Turn based would be so much better and user friendly.

Project: Eternity Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath
Eh fuck turn based and fuck combatfags. If PoE would have BG2 system, and combat, I would be satisfied.

I know when Pillars of Eternity Backer Beta Begins!

According to a comment on a facebook by one of the employees it is August 18th. It's a reply for a question from a backer. It's in a comment section in a recent post about Obsidian presentation at gaming conventions which was posted 6 h ago. Said comment:

The Backer Beta will start August 18th. The same week as Gen Con and GamesCom

autopause is your friend

Autopause needed more customization. Like character and action specific.

In the harder fights every second counted. I remember after casting a spell you had to wait for the spell animation before seeing the results and deciding whether to cast that spell again or move on to something else. You couldn't just start casting again because cancelling a spell in progress meant you lost it.

There was an option to enable auto-pause immediately after a spell was done casting. And with the way the rounds worked, 'every second counted' is definitely an exaggeration.

I'm talking about after the spell was cast while the spell animation was happening. You had to wait for the results. Like if a spell might bring down the primary threat and you were wanting to switch to a secondary. If you started casting when the autopause went off, you still didn't know whether the primary was down or not until the spell animation finished and the damage was all rolled. Usually that was a few seconds later.

Well yeeh, but that's the way it works with a real-time system. Of course, you couldn't immediately start casting again anyway (unless you had Improved Alacrity on).
