Looks like Will-o-Wisps, Kobolds and Mind Flayers
It is almost impossible to make a race that someone can't connect to another already establish creature/race. In particular a humanoid.
But let's give them different names just because. (Elves and Dwarves are Elves and Dwarves though so how's that for consistence)It is almost impossible to make a race that someone can't connect to another already establish creature/race. In particular a humanoid.
No need for apologism here, Sawyer will happily admit that he's ripping off D&D (and has in the past). It's sort of the point.

They are probably inhabiting some major dungeon in the game. Maybe a mine or something. Hard to tell, they could come up with anything.I'm surprised and impressed with how well-done those xaurip animations are. Definitely an A-priority creature.
Mind flayers are distinctive enough that you know a ripoff when you see one. If they copied only the look (appearance) that would be one thing but the description sounds exactly like mind flayers except with a justification to explain why they aren't the strongest power.Looks like Will-o-Wisps, Kobolds and Mind Flayers

You know what's boring, discovering a tactic that allows you to crest and effectively coast through rest of the game.Josh's game will be "balanced", but utterly boring. The background art will be stellar, though.
