To be honest, some moderators do prescribe to the "Make a ghetto with all the horrible people in that thread" school of thought.
Yes. That's why that romance thread is still going. Thankfully is is so horribly derailed.
What the drones populating those threads lack is proper perspective and a sense of their own place in the grand scheme of things.
I, for example, know very little about what's actually involved in the daily grind of computer game development. I know there are whiteboards with notes, possibly storyboards, brainstorming sessions, coders creating the guts of the game, writers writing dialog and overarching story flowcharts, artists, animators and sound techs doing their thing, et cetera, but that's pretty much all I know. So when I discuss game development with people, I try not to overstep myself and make ignorant proclamations or assumptions.
People with an inflated sense of self-worth and who believe their uninformed opinions matter at all are incredibly annoying to me. What we discuss here at the Codex is our business, and most seem to recognize that what we're doing is often dorky nitpicking and opinion-mongering. In recognizing and accepting that we're acting like retards, we have the proper perspective on our situation. But the drones on the Obsidian forums are posting there in the very real hope that the developers will read their useless garbage, and furthermore that everyone ought to respect their opinions simply because they exist.
I can't stand that shit. If Obsidian wants to poll the fans to find out whether we want gay elf romances in-game, then they'll do so. This "I'm worried there might not be gay elf romances in the game" backseat developer nonsense the drones insist upon is just absurd.
