If I've ever said we'll have DR, that's my mistake. We will only have DT. It will likely work in a very similar fashion to New Vegas. On the chart, it's descending through slashing, piercing, and crushing weapons. Left-to-right is increasing DT. I use the other numbers before the big graph to tune inputs. The number immediately to the right of the weapon names is a multiplier to per-hit damage. I use that to see what happens if you assume that the person can increase the base damage of a weapon by a factor of __. E.g., through Talents, Abilities, temp buffs, and a magic weapon, I can do 175% base damage, so I put in 1.75 and compare.

The colors in each column indicate the best to worst vs. a given DT. Red = worst, blue = best, white = okay. Currently, assuming I haven't jacked everything up, the theory generally works out. As DT increases, slashing becomes worse, giving way to piercing, and eventually giving way to crushing. But that's just where I started. I'm prototyping various scenarios in-engine to see how much of a practical difference it makes and how easy/hard it is to adapt to any given scenario.

I hope they get the balance right between combat and dialogue\exploration. I thought that BG1 had the balance somewhat off for my taste, a whole lot of empty scenery with meaningless fights, BG2 was a bit more balance and interesting.

Talkin' bout weapon specialization ideas at SA
It will likely be broader than a specific weapon and thematically-grouped in the same way that Cowboy and Grunt were in F:NV. E.g. Aristocrat Weapons might cover Rapier, Pistol, etc. Peasant Weapons might cover Quarterstaff, Hunting Bow, Hatchet, etc.
I expect peasant weapons to hold their own against any aristocratic bastards. :rpgcodex:

Reading Sawyer's design updates make me think if sawyer were to make love that he would be perfect at it. He would have it boiled down to a perfect science and know all the right moves, but there would not emotion or feeling in his lovemaking. It would be empty.

You can tell just by looking at this man's cold-dead face

Hipster level over 9000.

Well, hipsters are useless anyway until you get to level 8500 or so, and unlock the prestige classes. Till then, you just hang at the back of the party, picking the indie skills no-one else likes.

Do you think you will be able to have the same kind of impact on Project Eternity that you had on NWN2 MotB?
My role on Project Eternity is somewhat different from the one I had on MotB. While I have been working on story drafts and world design, PE is a bigger game and the narrative elements will be more of a collaborative effort. For example, the seed of the narrative and the broad outlines of the world were developed by Josh Sawyer (as seen in the Kickstarter updates), and what the story is “about” was determined in a series of very productive design meetings that included me, Josh, Jorge Salgado, Bobby Null, and others. After each meeting, I’ll go off and write a story draft, and then we come back to the table and discuss, edit, iterate.
