Hope they can make the monsters different enough from each other that the encounters built won't all feel the same.

Seeing the games they've made thus far doesn't bring much confidence in this area, hope they prove their history wrong.

They worked on games with pre-made bestiary so far. They didn't invent too many new stuff.

Just because they've worked with pre-made bestiaries shouldn't have precluded some creative freedom when working with them. It's not like all humans in the world are the same, the same surely applies to monsters too.

"I think a lot of people disliked it due it not being a C&C crpg like MotB, it was the Icewind Dale to Baldurs Gate, focused on exploration and creating your own party instead of pushing an epic storyline and deep characters."

The difference between SOZZY SOZ and IWD is that IWD was actually well made and fukkin' fun.

Come on. This is DnD we are talking about. That's a game with literally thousands of monster types. There's monsters they can sue that even long time DnD players probably never heard. FFS Use the Chocolate Golem!!!

Skuldr have poor vision, but they use a form of echolocation to perceive the spirit world. This allows them to “see” souls, making it difficult to use stealth to avoid them.
So...bat people? Cool. I prefer it to the usual furry fare. Now if they only had carp people, complete with throat teeth.

To me it looks like a glorified giant rodent fight.

Good update, one to see that ogre in action :)

BTW stay away from Baldur's Gate novels for sake of your sanity and well being. Here is one of the best comments about novels;

"If you were trapped on a deserted island with only this book for entertainment, write your own book in the sand. You can always use the pages of this one for toilet paper."

More fun in here;

Is this shit for realz? Did Gayder write that shit?
First 2 books were written by Philip Athans and Third was written by Drew Karphyshyn. Karpyshyn one was slightly better but maybe at point I was too busy laughing at stupid things in it like aforementioned ghost-Jaheira sex (I don't remember Jaheira-living armour though) or Abazigal and his herd of mentally retarded dragons and I'm not saying that they were just stupid like everyone else in the books, they were literally retards incapable of such things like speech.

I've only read the first one, but I couldn't agree more.

I have read em all, hoping it'll get better... that was a very big mistake. Then gave them to one of my friends who burned'em all after reading, also gave me a good beating:D

On new uptade, I hope there won't be any regular guards who is also a psychic. I'd like to see something Gothic like where townsfolk call guards (or attack us if they are somewhat strong) after some warnings when we break in their homes even without touching anything.
But some guard commander who is also a cipher should able to "sense" our deeds, even put a bounty on our heads if we are very naugthy(low reputation ).

Abazigal from what I remember lobotomized them.

And with Jaheira armor - when he fucked her ghost, he was trying to convince her to become like Sarevok with his living armor form. But she refused.

Those books, i should burn the codex down just for reminding me of their existence...

I hope the load times between exteriors and interiors are incredibly fast, nothing spoils the fun like starring at a load screen while entering a small empty house before having to load out again.

Complete Bestiary - The bestiary list has been worked over a few times by the area and narrative designers. We are now pretty close to having a complete creature list!

Looking forward to this; should give a good indication of combat depth in the game.

Found summary of first book I made few months ago for some dude:
Abdel Adrian by the time of book was already sellsword for years
Gorion let him out of Candlekeep because he was big and not very bright
As in he couldn't remember his own surname
Gorion gets killed by random thug with crossbow
Abdel forgets Gorion last words day after his death
(his as in gorion)
he then meet Xzar and Montarion
they go to the friendly arms inn
they meet Jaheira and Khalid
Khalid is abusive husband
Abdel is immedietaly attracted to Jaheira
Khalid is macho in that book
Jaheira tries to cheat on khalid with abdel
but he is too stupid and punches her instead
Khalid dies to some random slime
They meet Xan who is warrior in book
Xan dies to spider
Then we get half page long description of that fat laty death in spider forest
half page of gore
Sarevok is wizard in that book
Angelo is enemy of Sarevok
Even thought sarevok is cornered by army he still gets one on one duel with Abdel
oh and Abdel get his hands "history of dead three" in the book
he can't read it so instead he watches pictures

...And this is only first out of 3.
