It would be nice if they could come up with a "... of eternity" type of title that signified the game, and future games, as small parts of a larger tale. Sort of like The Elder Scrolls.

Prophecies of Eternity? Also nice abbreviation: POE.
I'm very much against any x of y title.

Eternity doesn't exactly stick with something else though. If they decide to use the word as it is, that's what we will propably get.

A name generally only 'sticks' in your head if it's the name of some other concept/thing you've already heard of, or if it leverages some technique like rhyme or alliteration. Otherwise, you have to live with "wow that's a shitty name" until people are familiar with it.

So Ninjerk's "Echos of Eternity" works better than most, as does "Eternal Return". The effect in both cases is limited though 'cause "eternity" is a bit of a... grandoise concept, and doesn't fit well with modern aesthetics.

I would settle for just Project Eternity as the actual title whether or not the game provided a spin on the title to make it work with lore.

Project Eternity is fine.
At first i was not very fond of that title but it's very easy to memorize, read it once and you don't forget it.
Moreover i like that it's not a "modern" kind of name full of hype which want to be cool.
It's more like an old school kitsch name which doesn't fear to be a bit ridiculous "grandiose".
Like Might and Magic, Wizardry, Ultima...
Yea i like it now.

Its a name that isn't full of hype but has no fear of being grandiose (read: MAJESTIC)? Isn't that a bit contradictory?
Nope because it is so much grandiose and generic that it is kitsch and ridiculous/laughable, all the contrary of hype=cool.

Personaly i wouldn't care if they told it PE. But as i want the game to sell many copies and make Obsidian money so they continue to make this style of games (as their main focus, with publiser work as a side job and not the reverse as of now), i have no problem with them finding a "cool" hype provoking name.

there are several abilities. So the definition doesn't preclude an ability with a single attack that does massive damage. Something like a backstab with high-risk/reward to make sure it's balanced. It's a possibility.
