Throes of Eternity

Almost like "Torment" but not quite. Also depictive of all this bullshit during the wait of release, so fitting on many levels.

If you're not familiar with Josh or with Obsidian, you're probably familiar with Obsidian's "Baldur's Gate" or "Star Wars: Knight's of the Old Republic".

As expected, the interviewers who approach Sawyer and care about gender equality are the most professional and informed ones.

 I mean seriously, how hard can it be to google their previous games before interviewing them? Now i understand why shit games are awarded Best Game of the Ages, or true Art, as long as they don't include text, or even if the writing is absolute shit. No one even reads it. Reading is teh hard...

This is called journalism, man. They assume that their viewers/readers are total retards, they don't know shit and everything has to be explained to them in the most retarded way possible.

Deep in your subconscious mind spreading lies.
Even if there are cool downs.... in reality they aren't any different than attacks per round or the a regenerating stamina system, especially if the more useful/powerful abilities are once per encounter or day. It just means that your wizard can cast magic missile an infinite number of times instead of standing around at the back doing jack shit unless there is an enemy wizard around. Or that your fighter/rogue or whatever gets to do something more than just auto attack for the whole game. Point is, I don't see the problem with such a system as long as the encounters are built around it.

Ok, maybe it's a modal ability that consumes stamina and that certain ability consumes a lot of stamina so that is what is meant by "a short duration" but... anyone wanna bet on that? I still think it will be a cool-down.

Even if there are cool downs.... in reality they aren't any different than attacks per round

Attacks per rounds work on a global round system where everything goes two ways. It is a system of input and output. Any action that takes # rounds will always take # rounds and that goes for everyone unless there are special, temporary circumstances eg. spell, curse, equipment bonus or penalty etc. Basically the opposite of cool-downs.

or the a regenerating stamina system

Hopefully, ideally, stamina system will also feature a shared pool among all abilities.

There is no way to tell if he meant cooldowns or not.

You're gonna need something better if you want to troll Sawyer.

I like World of Eternity as the series name, and a different subtitle for each game.

Project Eternity does not sound right for a fantasy game. Eternity alone also has not much to do with fantasy - just like Deathfire. :troll:

It's the same way that the 'Slayer' ability and the innate abilities in BG were all cooldowns you know. You just had to push the cool-down button and everything came back!

We will probably have three casting/ability use durations: immediate, short, and long. Those will be set to specific intervals and will be consistent between characters. E.g. a fighter's "short" ability use is the same as a wizard's "short" casting time, etc.

And still no P:E in sight for George :(

It goes well (so far). Right now I’m spending the majority of my time on Torment, but I’ve also been involved with some pen-and-paper stuff (e.g., Numenera Editorial Board, Kickstarter campaign for Accursed), and there are some other things that may be coming along as well. Can’t talk about them yet though. :)

I hope there is a full time job at Obsidian
