Question is "value", looking at a objective PoV you still have your T5 ship that you can use to level to get your T6 ship ... see? "Value".
Of course everything above T4 was made for endgame, we had slightly better ships over others and Cryptic really created a mess with T5 ships without special consoles and 9 console slots, T5 ships with a special console that cannot be used on other ships with 9 consoles, T5 ships with a special console/s that cannot be used on other ships with 10 consoles ...
T5 is a damn mess from "free" ships with 9 consoles to the 3-pack ships ... Fleet, Lock Box, Lobi ... they contently dug that grave, after all wasnt the Patrol Escort Refit released this year?
Problem with Cryptic is they take the easy road, take Lock Boxes ... at start we had a prize ship with a bunch of consolation prizes that simply werent worth the game, then they added a Lobi Store and then they fiddled around with Lobi prices until we have the current situation but at one point they would run out of possible combinations, they will continue that path until it blows up on their faces and when that happen, they will blame someone else.
They made some very token effort to make small craft functional outside the few missions that exist, The Vault FA is a damn mess that not only requires everyone to know what they are doing but also they do it on a timer, they made no effort to re-balance that mission and instead have removed all reasons to even doing it, the Atmospheric Assault is another disaster being nothing but a shitter version of the Battle of Hoth again with a shit pay.
They have milked the ship cow but instead of trying to move away to other models, its the same shit again with T6 ships ... because thinking on a alternative model is just too hard, they also stubborn as mules because apparently because they got burned years ago in CoH housing they refuse to provide house in STO, this is just a direction ... their entire model now rests on Lock Boxes, they added pay traits to the game YET they refuse to put then on the C-Store, this is driving people out because its not a "drop $5 for some cool stuff" but "pay $5 for spin the wheel for cool stuff", as much the whales are 50% of the revenue, the other 95% simply cannot buy anything, only be pushed into being a whale and thus cut 50% of the revenue off.
"Taking care" from that lot seems more of then reaching the carving knife these days.
ESPECIALLY when they dont want to give any details.
