Please don't let it be the temporal cold war, I have almost managed to forget everything about that shitty show.
It is. Sorry. That was the second voted-for thing. Fortunately, who really gives a fuck about the story, it's not like you're ever really forced to encounter it more than trivially. Mash F and pewpew on.

Also, you missed out on all the new EXCLUSIVITY(tm), so now you're fucked.

oh? what did I miss? I think I remember seeing something about event ships now being permanently retired after events and not available in the future?

Also, have there been dev whispers of a T6 Oddy? Is there finally hope for the Bortasqu'?

Yes, you missed the latest Breenmobile FOREVER. In short, you're permanently increasingly second-class. If it wasn't worth playing before, it sure as hell isn't worth coming back to, because FUCK YOU NEW AND RETURNING PLAYERS. And yes, they're coming soon, similar to the Command Cruisers after the last Anniversary.

That's fine. I was never much of a fan of the seasonal event hamster wheels in the first place. I've skipped the majority of the summer ships and the new Breenmobile is a masterclass in hideousness, even for the Breen.

But... it's a free ship! For admiralolity and... stuff!
And the wintergrinding is low effort anyway. Log in, peacfully jog around the track without an opponent, log out. Firing up the client takes longer than the grind itself. And it seems the acc claiming was buggy as well (or is it the new WAI?), since I could claim the ship with all my chars after unlocking the store. Not a single jog needed.

Summergrinding on the other hand... fuck summergrinding.

What you mean to say is that Wintergrinding *WAS* low effort. Summergrind is much the same, fly around some loop the loops. It's only if you want to get the STUFF that it becomes painful, but those are not EXCLUSIVITY(tm), so no worries. Wintercrap, on the other hand, can be had through some shenanigans or just throwing doffs at it.

Great. The one day I failed to claim had the only useful thing, the one romulard ship I never bought. Meh, I even logged in and checked the "promotion" tab yesterday. Maybe I can still claim it... probably not. Serves me right for not reading the news.

Quads suck anyway!

T6 flagships announced! You get a Scimitar, you get a Scimitar, everyone gets a Scimitar! My poor D'Deridex won't be able to get out of New Romulus orbit with all of those assholes clogging up the sky.

interested to see how these things compare to the cbcs, will I finally be able to fly a viable Bortasqu'?

I am not going to touch the Scimiturd even if it becomes a T6. To me it's still a symbol of everything that was wrong about that movie and the franchise genocide. And they are clogging up spacelanes worse than my Derpidex. It does look more romulard this time tho.. no. Bad thoughts, go away!
The Borta is tempting, but I play my klang as a low key warrior who got only be trusted with the failed Martha prototype, so it's out as well. Didn't even equip the T6 escort I'll never fly.
As for the Oddy... well, I haven't even gotten around flying the T6 Akira and Promy yet, and I am pretty happy with the Guardian for a cruiser...
They all serve as card for the cardgame.

I think I'll pass.

Maybe once it gets discounted I might buy one, if only to give Norfleet a reason to rant at my poor choice of purchase. :salute:

You'll get no rant from me. More ASScards always good, especially when discounted. There will almost certainly be an introductory discount also. If there isn't, then, obviously, I am sitting.

What is redeeming about this game? I like the Star Trek shows, but the art in this game is too bright and colorful and the ship designs are ghey. Is the combat good like Homeworld?

There is nothing there for you. Avoid.

Seizure inducing, really. There's a thing in the game I have nicknamed "Epilepsy Beam", and that name is sticking in the community. It's not the first thing I've named to gain wider spread in the community, either.

Is the combat good like Homeworld?
*sporfle*
Good joke, sir.

Anyway, avoid this game. If you don't care to heed these words of warning, I can provide you with more tips for how to avoid having any FUN. But seriously, avoid. It's too late, you missed the entry deadline for the anniversary ship anyway.

What is redeeming about this game?

Fucking nothing.

The answer used to be:

1. PvP combat, but they first nerfed that and then removed it completely.

2: Much easier to get into and less grindy than most MMORPGWTFBBQ games but that got turned on its head and now you need to pretty much play 10 hours a day every day to get anywhere.

So what do you guys think.... a good change or just more entropy?

I really like these parts though.

every single one of the 50 ranks that exist under the new system cost either 1 Space Point or 1 Ground Point to purchase, with entirely separate Skill Trees and costs based on region. No more feeling as though you’re forced to sacrifice performance in your Starship for the sake of Ground Skills, or vice versa!

Kit Performance, simply put, takes the place of all of the profession-specific skills that used to improve different kit modules in different ways. Now, investment in this single skill has the same effect as previously spending in all of your profession-specific skills would have had. The skills being replaced by Kit Performance are:
  • Engineering: Demolitions, Repairs, Generators, Turrets & Drones and Modification Specialist
  • Science: Medic, Physiology, Scientist, Probability Logistics and Particle Physics
  • Tactical: Grenades, Special Forces, Squad Command and Advanced Tactics
The new skill behaves the same as the old ones did, except that you no longer have to make the choice between improving the duration of your Weapons Malfunction debuff vs. the amount of Shields your Phaser Turret has, or the damage of your Chroniton Mines.

Long-Range Targeting Sensors

Each rank purchased in this 3-point Skill will reduce the damage penalty experienced by being far away from the target of your energy weapons.

I am cautiously but probably naively optimistic. Norfleet will almost certainly conduct an in-depth analysis and will shortly tell us why it's terrible.

I do like this talk about "coordination protocols", since my current main is a carrier skipper.
