Foam at the mouth fanboyism on a certain forum has finally driven me to be as far away from there as I can get for the forseeable future. It's particularly galling when the rants are subliterate and written by people for whom punctuation is a totally foreign concept.

That should be added to the official definition if there is one.

You're not going to PMS here too, are you?

Why do you think I came here? When I said I can learn more about the game here than on the official forums: I wasn't joking. As far as I'm concerned, the rabid fanboys for whom the devs can do no wrong are welcome to the official forums.

And why should I throw a strop here? A combination of things pushed me to the decision ~ one of them being the dearth of information on the game posted officially. At least here I can get some information ~ even if it is deamed "unofficial".

He's got a point. Same reason I'm here.

Apart from that you can actually discuss things here. On the ES forums you need to discuss in teams to get any sensible argument through the sheer number of "post count +1" and "I'll not read this much text" posts.

Either they are trying to prevent a fable from happening whit out sealing their libs by posting unofficial information here or they just hate the codex and try to lure the masses of OB general in and hope they scare everybody out. :P

Btw:
MrSmileyFaceDude
Look. I post stuff here. I post stuff at RPGCodex. I post stuff at other forums besides those two. There are far too many threads here for me to respond to every single question. And besides, anything I post at ANY forum ends up here and in dev quotes threads on other sites anyway. I posted that message this morning, and it was re-posted here within a couple hours. If I'd answered the same question in a thread here this morning, the thread would have been just as active as this one is -- unless it was pushed back to page 5, which is likely given how active this forum is.

morons dont even know WHY they post it here

they dont post it there because they dont need justification and reassurance in order to get them to buy the game
they will mindlessly buy it, without even reading reviews, everyone there is giving one another peer pressure that forces them to buy it, even if they secretly think teh game is the sUx0rZ

Kind of like how a lot of people here will hate on Oblivion even if they secrety think the game is good.

Er... generally speaking, that's so damned appropriate as to be... er... right. I'll spare the sentiment this time around. Override's got my respect on the ESF, along with Yipsl and Athame, who've also posted here. As has been said before, there are a few people on the ESF who aren't utterly worthless. We're just overshadowed by dumbasses. :D

Is that really why you stormed off the TES boards and came here.....?

WHY do we get to hear this from the RPGCodex and not here? Is there a blind spot in the Bethesda PR department where this forum is concerned?

I mean, we're only the loyal fans who've helped keep Bethesda solvent over the years...

OverrideB1 said:
This is a fundamental change ~ one that they kNOW their fans have been grumbling about. If MSFD knew about it, why not post it HERE in the official forums before rushing off to tell RPGCodex about it? Official or not, this should have been made public here ~ if not first, at least soon thereafter.

And it wouldn't be so bad if this was the first time, but it's not: not by a long chalk. People go on about the number of whinging posts ~ can they honestly wonder why the fansbase is disgruntled when this is how they're treated?

OverrideB1 said:
Absurd is it?

What, it's absurd that we ~ the official Bethesda forum ~ seem to have become second class citizens when it comes to information on a fundamental change to the game?

What's absurd about expecting news of such a fundamental change to be made on the official forum for the game? Irrespective of whether it was done before or after the announcement on RPGCodex ~ it should have been made public knowledge right here. Not left to someone to spot in a thread over there.

I think I'm off to join RPGCodex. Obviously I can learn more about the game on that forum than I can on the frelling official forums. Then I can come back here and let you guys know what's going on with the game you so ardently support. Does nobody see else the the sheer absurdity of that?

I do believe I said that I came here because I can learn more about what is happening with Oblivion here than I can learn on the official forums. Nice that you didn't quote any of the fanboy responses to my comments over there.

Not that that is the only thread where someone's opinion was denigrated and shat upon from a great height. And I get very bored with all the "OMFG dude you suck Oblivian is gonna rock Bethesda can do no wrong id like to punch you if u were standing in front of me the devs have been doing this for years go amek yr own game if u dont like it" responses. If folk over there want to be that way ~ that fine. I just don't like the taste it leaves in my mouth.

Hi there Jon ~ nice to see some familiar faces over here (especially when they belong to people I admire ~ waves to Proweler, Balor, and GhanBuriGhan)

If it's good, I'll say so. But the bits that are FUBAR'ed I shall mock mercilessly

A fanboi is someone who obessesses over a certain thing (movie, game, company, etc..) to the point where if someone says something negitive about it, they take it as a personal attack and responed with some half-witted, poorly structured rebuttal or weak ass irrelevent one-liner. If their beloved obession is getting housed, they start to foam at the mouth.

Supplement: See Volourn

While that's generally true, sometimes fanboy is used as a flame by someone who doesn't like a game against someone who likes a game, or is anticipating a game, even if they have constructive criticisms.

I try to tell people who hate criticism on the official Bethsoft boards to not take it personally, that constructive criticism is necessary and is not flaming or dissing the devs.

What I think happens on many official game sites is they only want fanboys and not long time fans of the series who know what's been changed over the years. When I went over to Ubisoft's HOMM boards there was constructive criticism from fans of the strategy series, but on the Dark Messiah boards it was almost a unanimous cheer for their morphing a great RPG series into Half Life Too.

Oh dear, are we saddened by the fact that my attack humour is a little more vindictive than yours or are we shocked that the newbie pushes back and doesn't immediately genuflect to your quasi-witty barbs and higher post-count?
