BTW, using "35 years" anywhere means I won't update this until we reach "40 years".

Modders will fix it. E-book DLC will fix it. Envision "36.7 years of Computer Role-Playing Games Book of The Year Platinum Edition".

I need to contact Capcom and find a way so that DLCs unlock content already printed on the book. Maybe I'll glue the pages and mail you a solvent.

Project: Eternity Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath
Ahn... all of the above?

Sorry, I'm a horrible person and I know it. I think it should be nostalgic/romantic and lighthearted, without sounding too dorky or try-hard. I don't like fancy pretentious names, or those titles that look like an ad trying to sell you stuff or a click-hungry news headline.

So far I really like these (subtitles are interchangeable):

The Book of
Computer Role-Playing Games:

A love letter to a genre

The Codex of
Computer Role-Playing Games

Your companion through 35 years
of virtual Adventures
BTW, using "35 years" anywhere means I won't update this until we reach "40 years". I'm sure everyone with obsessive–compulsive disorder agrees.
I like this version:
The Codex of
Computer Role-Playing Games:
Love letter to a genre (without an A)

Other subtitles:
How to survive in the world of RPGs,
A communitiy's guide to a genre,
We know your games,
NPCs, XP and lots of fun,
What you always wanted to know about the genre/RPGs,
Introduction to genre,
What can change the nature of a man?

IMO "<Something Catchy>: A Guide to the Computer Roleplaying Genre" is nice and solid. Some might consider it boring, however.
Something catchy that's not cheesy is the hard part.

Stuff like Worlds of Wonder, Virtual Lands, Byte Chronicles or Tales of the Desktop all sound kind of silly.

Well, I suggested "Grinding for XP" (see, because it's like somebody actually "grinded" his way through all the games mentioned in the book to become experienced in the genre and then wrote about them). That may sound a bit silly, though.

Thinking now, I think "Tales" gives a nice image... not only it reefers to the games stories, but to the players adventures with the games.

BRB, gonna listen to some Blind Guardian.

Damn, I was joking but Blind Guardian delivers. Not only "Somewhere Far Beyond" is a fucking awesome title, but just look at this cover:

Blind_Guardian_Somewhere_Far_Beyond.jpg

Imagine a version of this with various heroes from different kinds of RPGs; a space marine, a Mad Max-like guy, a wizard, a arhurian knight, a 50's space hero.... around a fire, as if telling stories of their adventures, in a fantastic landscape...

Then a title like "Tales from the Beyond: A Guide to Computer Role-Playing Games".

It's also a nice throwback to Bard's Tale:

It sounds nice to everyone, or just to those currently listening to Blind Guardian?

:bounce: Of course I like this :smug:
edited: "gameplay knowledge" sounds more like a book of walkthroughs instead of a collection of reviews by an enthusiast or fan of that particular title.

Yes, this x1000. Best yet in every way. Love the cover idea too :D

Tales From a guide to computer role-playing games: The Beyond

That's how this title looks like at the first glance. I don't like it.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I have some free time to procrastinate working on other projects so I could do Titan Quest. Do you provide the screenshots or can I take them?

And now I'm listening to Somewhere Far Beyond.
Good mock-up. I like it. Not a big fan of the split title though.

Title Row 1
Title Row 2
Subtitle

vs

Title Row1
Subtitle
TitleRow2

Makes no sense!

Sorry, had Heroic Worlds in my desk when doing the title:

HEROIC_WORLDS_1255393746P.jpg

Books from 1991 aren't a good reference...
