Let´s see what they do. I won´t complain because I had a good time playing campaign as mercenary so I got my money well spent. But would like to have a game I wish to replay with other classes.

You'd hate your life playing monk as actual melee... War isn't melee either if you want to clear even remotely decently. They didn't improve shit. If they put the new graphics in PoE1 we would have a 1000x better game atm.
Nah, we would have same shit game with better graphics

The status of this game is PoE 3 years ago. Anyone that says they like PoE2, but hated PoE1 are exposing themselves hard.
Campaign is fun and experimenting with new characters is fun while waiting until they slow down endgame by 50% and nerf lots of stuff that is breaking it while bringing in wanted QoL stuff
Btw, poe1 was better 3 years ago than it is now.

They can't top conqueror+ delirium. Almost everything else either pales or whimsical. 2 is mostly the latter with some "gritty" sugarcoat.
Delirious conqueror map = hot shit.

Imagine if conqueror influence on a map acted like delirium.

Also retiring oriath lol. That's when some "B" team stuff started to show up real bad.

Are you seriously expecting them to slow down the game when they talked 5+ years about it and you mow down screens of enemies starting at least from act2?
The "methodical" gameplay is reserved to early act1, just so they can use it in marketing materials.

Nobody is mowing down enemies starting at Act 2. Maybe Rangers with certain skills become a bit faster and Monk does not start getting a bit faster until some point in Cruel

Went vacationing with relatives for 10 days, now I'm 94 and got this beauty:

Total spent on my character is around of 50-ish divs now.

I think I'm done for now, and it feels like it's End of League blues anyways. Gave the belt to my brother so he can pump with his warrior.

Hopefully GGG decides to bring out a new fake "League"/reset in a month or two or something, I can't imagine playing more than a standard PoE1 league especially with the current options/diversity the game has right now.

Gladiator, Huntress and Templar should introduce new equipment types not currently in the game so that'll keep it interesting I guess. Druid and Huntress were super close to being ready but they decided to launch without. I'm expecting them early February. When the more systemic changes to endgame and crafting start to come out in 3-4 months I hope they start fresh and move characters to legacy.

The first two new classes probably don't warrant a reset but new equipment types and major changes do.

I wonder if they will release new acts at all before full release. If they want casuals to come back and play again they should keep them for release. Also at least one class should be kept for release version.
Also there was a good suggestion I heard from someone, they should keep Cruel difficulty even with 6 acts and let mobs scale to same levels as top tier maps so players can have alternative option to random mapping.

Mow down = kill packs in 1-2 hits before they do anything. Both war and monk are doing it and I certainly doubt most specs have weaker clear than wars. And that's with random ass builds I did while learning the game and ssf loot.

If it has rewards is not optional, if it doesn't, what's the point? People will be sick of campaign in 2-3 leagues tops, anyway.

I view what players are doing with ES as a kind of loophole where the developers forgot to close, which was exacerbated by bad itemization.
It might as well be the VISION, who knows, but it's definitely not freeform gameplay that POE1 provides, where you can be both a zhp zoom-zoom character or uber tank that is essentially unkillable by almost every attack (i.e. my https://pobb.in/ZtpEcuNOb5k2 latest SSF character). It was one of the biggest allures of PoE1 as compared to D3 or some other games - 'play as you want instead of play as we want'. Also, the trade will always push the community towards zoom-zoom, "press one button, whole screen dies" builds because they allow you to farm the maximum amount of currency / gear (and in poe2 this is compounded by the fact how rarity works atm).
Its a bit tricky because high percentage reduction actually gets increasing returns from a lot of damage, and you get higher returns the closer you are to hardcap
I'd say they just mindlessly copied the old poe1 formula without taking into account that you have more% aura in poe1 (which was nerfed recently) and the other defensive layers that are dependant or tied to armour (molten armour, aegis procs or other things).

They did the same thing in PoE 1. Life sucked, ES was OP. It took them like 6~ years to finally fix it. And they didn't do so by buffing life, for the most part. In fact, things like original Kaom's were nerfed for giving too much life.

I think they just like it; like all their dumb design decisions that keep re-emerging despite them making a big fuss about "learning" and "fixing" them. On-death explosions, volatiles, melee being garbage, etc.
Melee isn't garbage, monk invoker is one of the 3 top characters. It is just warrior mace skills that suck.

Nice cope. It certainly isn't better than PoE 1. Way worse. Compare monk to simple skills like frostblades; this after all their promises to "fix" melee and that it could only be done with massive systems changes in PoE 2. Monk has to "work" to do the things that melee in PoE 1 can do for free naturally. The whole thing is dumb as hell. Not to mention... the total lack of movement skills. It turns out that when you have to be closer to someone to deal damage, not being able to move around fast is a big fucking problem.

Frankly, it appears that what they meant by "fix melee" is that their vision is that melee should be bad, and that that's how they fixed it.

I'm into tier 10+ maps with my SSF melee Acolyte of Chihuahua and yeah...pretty much. I do use more buttons which is fun and all but at its core, melee has the exact same issues as in PoE1 and the same style: blow up the screen or die. Only you are slower, squishier and the game is prettier.

Btw, it's funny how they keep harping on slowing down the game yet they launch with Breach and Delirium, two mechanics that expect you to zoom-zoom.

They've always had this problem. I don't want to put words in their mouth, but it seems like a better way of describing it is not that they made a mistake or they designed wrong, but that they are lying constantly. They design their mechanics around speedy gameplay, then say they don't want that. It just doesn't seem realistic unless you assume they are very, very stupid. And they don't seem stupid, honestly. You also have to consider their past; they learned to deceive their playerbase because they get less directly negative feedback that way, and they don't seem to like negative feedback, so there you go. They've actually come out and said this before: the reason they stopped doing as much direct discussion with the community is that they didn't like it when the players called them out.

It's either blatant gaslighting or by "slowing the game down" they mean slowing the players (the progression) down. I don't remember any change that slowed down the enemies, which would be required for slowing the gameplay.

reverted back to ed. Found my answer to breaches and its... demon form. It gives you that flying dash that is like teleport but without cooldown

I've brought my SSF ice sorceress to maps and it is not going well. 1000+ life and 1700 ES and I get killed in tier1 maps every 2nd map and there is nothing I can do about it except cast ice wall at every pack first because everyone does too much damage.
Last death was almost instant from a small pack of 4 or 5 enemies with darts or something. They were in a group, shot once, projectiles were almost instant, they all hit and I went from full to 0 in an instant..
Before that I was dying to enemies I could not freeze as that was how I controlled and killed enemies throught the campaign like GGG designed. Cast slow Frost balls, freeze them and blow them up with Cold Snap. Then I would die if ranged enemies had more range or faster projectiles or could not be frozen in time.
Then I respected out of freeze and went crit Eye of Storm with Archmage so I can just spam one faster projectile but still I can get "one shot"...

This character is even worse than my ED witch was at start of mapping. I do kill enemies faster but I have no evasion and no fire dog to tank for me, even if it is for 5s.
This balance is completely busted, white maps in PoE1 are nothing like this.
