great... ran out of honor during 3rd ascendancy against some scorpion boss and fast projectile traps spamming around. wtf is this shit.
How do I get to do another try? Beat chimera again or is it random?
Can I save my progress? This shit takes forever.
Also how do I beat bulshido scorpion so I wont have to go through this again. Im actualy considering just not going through this again, I hate honor mechanics. Give me back izaro
as mercenary grenadier i didnt get hit a single time by the scorpion boss, i was more focused on running around in a huge circle. so if you have mobility and can do damage from range, just try to stay as far away as possible and go ham if you are able to stun it (the only time i stopped moving)

Hmh... some random thoughts after my like 5th death in HC SSF with my Melee Blood Witch:
what were your SSFHC deaths? I always forget to abuse the Pause lol

My 1st one: Act 1 boss, before even the transition he can do a freeze trap while he summons adds
2nd: very embarrassing one against the Rust King early on (while playing a squishy Ranger)
3rd: Act 2 boss (sandstorm move, you are supposed to stand behind the girl and kill adds)
4th: Blackjaw in Act 3 (he has a infamous triple slam, I didn't know the third final slam has HUGE ranged AoE)

at least I'm having some progress through these deaths...
Blackjaw is super easy for all builds if you stand next to him and dodge to always be at his back. Only move away when he starts charging up his fire attack as that hasa big aoe near him

unless you are doing ssf you can buy em for 1 ex each
yeah im ssf. Actually the longer i think about it the more at ease i feel about just not doing it with this character as rest are useless. Unless demon form becomes amazing or something

EDIT: cruel forge master was much easier for me, cleared about 60% of the way
Demon form need a unique chest to feel good and jewels with bonus life regeneration and life regeneration on items. Good luck getting that while it is so hard to do basic stuff in SSF like cap resists.
Only good ssf infernalist is fire summoners. Than use that one to farm gear for whatever you want to play.

especially now that weapon Attack Speed has been heavily nerfed (which IMO is a very good thing, the iAS nerf that is).
I had a bit over 5 attacks per second as monk when I finished cruel, as ssf without even trying. Combat is similar with PoE1, you just move slow between packs and maps are big (because fuck you).
Wars are playing a different game, until the build gets going to blow everything up.

1x Titan instant kill bug
1x Vessels during the Titan fight that detonate dealing cold damage while having -10% cold res.
1x couldn't roll out of a large monster group, tried to leap slam, was too late (A2)
1x got stunlocked in a large monster group, couldn't leap slam out (A3). That was my last death. I got pretty bored because item drops were so shit, so I got reckless.
1x A2 boss where I was just running around in the sandstorm, healing myself the whole time and killing the packs, thinking to myself that surely the AoE damage will stop soon. Didn't happen, nor did I get the info that I had to stand behind the princess to lose the AoE damage. I had extreme good gear in that run, so I didn't think of my defences, since I was dishing out damage like crazy.
1x Monkey slam (I tried to farm him for a while since his one hit attack couldn't oneshot me, little did I know that he has a 3-hit combo which ends with another big slam, that one one-shotted me).

Weird. Where does the AS come from?

Nothing special, that's just how the "class" is designed. Skill with AS gem starts at 3 attacks per second iirc. Had a weapon with a bit of ias and some nodes from tree.,

Moved to cruel difficulty. Hope I find some gear upgrades. I almost found no good gear in act 3.
I didn't swap a single piece of gear in Act 1 from drops, got two rings and a mace from the vendor.

Same in Act 2 so far, but nothing useful at all at the vendors.

No, picking a class does not lock you out of anything. Titan summoners are very strong alongside gemling casters. Deadeyes have crossbow builds and Invoker monks work as well with elemental bow attacks. And that is just after 2 weeks.
You might be right, I didn't look carefully at Gemling Legionnaire, the entire tree is generic, which is good.

You'd have to use weapon swapping to leverage different skillsets, but I'm hoping to combine shield skills from the mace tree with sword or axe when they drop.

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut

Really good points. Campaign is a lot smoother once you see that the absolute best way to gear yourself is by visiting merchants each and every levelup. They sell some wicked shit. As for melee while I love how it feels GGG have basically stumbled upon the same issue as in POE1, there is just no reason to go melee instead of ranged if you're looking at optimizing your play.

I've gotten my SSF warrior into maps..and shevled him. I really, really wanted to play stampede since it's such a fun skill but right now you basically need 20qual stampede and aftershock OR lvl 80+ so that you can +AOE skill it into overlapping slams otherwise it's just inferior play to tap>tap>boneshatter. Too bad.

Onto monk now.

Agreed about the merchants. Half of my equipment came from them. I regularly check them. It's also important to buy cheap stuff with slots, to salvage.

Didn't found a decent amulet in all act1-3. And the moment I arrived to cruel I got a sick one from the act1 blacksmith.

Bosses in Cruel seem easy as shit so far.

Basically just break armor, throw a bleed up and whack the shit out of them, and they die in seconds. Even the Titan melted and I'm just using a one hander and shield. Nearly heavy stunned him, disappointed me when he died first.

I also haven't found anything remotely useful since I bought some rings and a mace at the vendor in Act 1 Cruel.

Attack Speed % seems like it has some of the best scaling to DPS compared to any other node. I guess it affects raw damage output by a net percentage, whereas all of those +20% damage nodes are just affecting base damage, so no wonder they're kind of mediocre.

Oh man, I have slept on around 40% more spell damage this whole time. In last tier of occult spells there is Offering skill that boosts you instead of minions.
I was so happy to find this and also additional use for all these minion nodes I took (they were taken so my fire dog can stay alive longer to tank) just to try it and find out that using offering skills with a controller is almost impossible and your character will only target one of your skeletons if they are certain distance away and you need to manually move the stick towards them... fuck me..

played with it, honestly i wasnt too happy with it. Its not just an issue with a controller. Most of the time its impossible to get propper placement for it

As for endgame it is crap. I've done 30+ maps with one slight upgrade from gear I got before endgame (new shield with a bit better stats). I am still not res capped (although they are not terrible, high 60s and 50s), I had no upgrades in the waiting even, funny shit I had a good amulet for a summoner drop with + to minion skills and spirit lol and a helmet with + to minion skills. And I still do not have boots with movespeed.
I cannot meaningfully engage with any of bonus mechanics that could give me some bonus loot(breach, ritual, delirium, expeditions) as killing those is even harder and dying to them easier.
Even trading is not a real option as it seems it might be bugged on xbox (while also being even more cancer as they force you to use same web interface but with a controller), something about nobody answering whispers and also prices seemed to have skyrocketed...
Acts were cool and an upgrade compared to PoE1, endgame is even worse. You are slow, white enemies are all charging at me or jumping or have big irritating AoE attacks. Unless you got a build that deletes those fast (and there a bunch of those) it is a pain to progress through maps with one life per map. And then idiots like Zizaran regularly says they need to up map boss health because his infernalist summoner kills them too fast because it is one of the best 10 builds)
GGG needy to decide if they want they want with their game. Either nerf OP builds to power most have during Acts or bring up other 90% of builds so everyone can zoom zoom in endgame.
But then what is the point of forcing players through slow grind of 20h of 6 Acts just to have endgame be a different game..

Which act on cruel? I was also doing fairly well until Act 6 when boss battles became 1+ minute events.
Also it depends on your definition of melting. Unless you are killing them in 5-10s like builds that are now at top of the ladder it is not melting

"Ruthless" game drops 4 exalts and 4 maps per breach and gfx looks near the same as 1 once it's sped up lol.

If you thought chilled ground in volcano map was anticlimactic see this hut village stuff with earthshatter skill antics lol.

comparing yourself constantly to top 1% is some tinder shit
Those 1% are making even trading impossible for all of us. They earned so much exalted prices are now in divines. At least in PoE1 I had chaos recipe when I played my non meta builds and I could eventually buy stuff good for me (also Xbox had a trading UI that was useful).
Also those are players GGG might be balancing the game around so no , you cannot ignore what they do.
EDIT: As I already said, Zizaran is playing a meta build, complains bossing is too easy and has 100 000 viewers and out of those 10 000 will nod on whatever he says and push GGG about it.

go ssf lol. In maps now, will let you know when I feel like ive hit a wall with my ssf ed infernalist with only 2 ascendancy trials

I also haven't found anything remotely useful since I bought some rings and a mace at the vendor in Act 1 Cruel.
I craft, constantly. When comparing to poe1, poe2 in ssf is showering you with currency. I pick every base and go full blue. If its decent, I go regals, might even put few exalts only to discard that item in the end.
Biggest issue with poe1 was lack of regals, luckily its not the case in here

You are way too early. 3 mod rares will not help you do endgame, especially if you are not doing a meta build. If you do one of the ranger builds, you just need a good bow and you can probably kill enemies before they can do anything to you so other gear is not as impactful.
In endgame crafting is pure RNG and you do not have enough exalted to craft anything unless you again get lucky.
While leveling and still in endgame I am still checking merchants after each level up to see if they got useful rares to sell (this is one of the rare positive changes to how you acquire gear compared to PoE1). There are also options with Expeditions, everyone from that now lets you do crafting but you already need a good build to do Expedition content and get components for their crafting.

Only thing PoE2 gives you more are Exalted but you lack Alchemy and there is no bench crafting which was very important for SSF in POE1. So far PoE2 is even more dependent on trading than PoE1.

I started doing that with rings, hoping for more resist affixes, and burned through probably a dozen of them without too much to show for it.

Same with jewels. Most of my gear already has pretty decent affixes, just waiting for higher base level drops so I can mod them. No trying to throw away exalts. My mace has a +100% physical mod so that's probably gonna be until late act 3 until I replace it, if even then. Most blues end up between +17% to +70% based on RNG. Exalted and Regal Orbs are not cheap so I don't want to be wasting them unless the rolls on the first two are excellent, and it doesn't seem necessary, so I'm saving them.

Every time I slap affixes on shit I keep getting dump stat rolls like mana, health, some mediocre elemental damage, health and mana on kill, etc etc. I have one good jewel with stats for my class, the other ones are basically for other classes entirely. Lots of junk stats in this game to ruin rolls, the usual RNG for this type of game.

Really hoping they come out with a new melee class/weapon next year because Christ, mace got really boring. Might have to roll the crossbow guy just to try it out for a bit when I get bored. Once I realized that the best build basically boils down to stacking DPS nodes and auto attacking. Axe and sword sound exciting.

I swapped to blink recently and its very good for map setting (can jump over plenty of stuff such as gaps and stairs, faster traveling and the most important thing get you out of middle of enemy packs when you are swarmed)

I mostly used fire skulls to spawn with fire wall which I made purely my cc whores with malm + knockback which I really liked but not enough spirit to keep em anymore

also even when I started over week late I got 1.5k exalted and 50 divine orbs in my stash now as spark witch, its silly how much money you can make when I accidentally picked metaslave build and I'm doing pretty efficient t15-t16 mapping. also when you are killing stuff 2 screens away you can stack plenty of rarity in your gear which I read affects even currency drops
