at 97 tier 16 maps dont give much exp anymore.
has anyone played Pure Breachstones or Beachhead? how do those compare to a regular t16 exp wise?

Insanely better.

lvl90, breached 8k es, ran my first t14.

Now to complain again... this league im running on steam client and each poe update freezes my machine for 0.5-1h even if its just 5mb. Not network issue, its killing my disk

Something in PoE's delivery system and how steam handles updates doesn't match, essentially it redownloads the entire game every time there's an update, regardless of size... had to switch to regular client because of it.

Not 100% sure but I was once pissed why it takes so long for a small patch and it looked like it writes (not redownload) a new content.ggpk (spelling) file with the changes from the diff, which means every poe patch on steam writes 15-20gb on your hdd.

Sounds like it's similar to Total War Warhammer. That thing copies the entire game as a backup and then installs the patch over it and then overwrites the game or something thing like that regardless of the patch size. It messes up regularly so you have to redownload the entire 50+ gig.

Ah yes, I remember playing the living shit out of this one. I loved the oldschool lore about Nightmare/Beast being some kind of primordial force that belongs to the world and/or is the path to a whole new level of existance... and is slowly corrupting everyone with ambitions for power.

But if there was one thing, one single motherfucking thing that really, really disturbed (disgusted) me was that fucking Spiderqueen and her minions. I hated that part. I hated it so much that I quit playing this gem of a game.

Now the beast is a creation of one God as a weapon vs all Gods. He wanted to empower humanity with creation of the beast but beast got corrupted.

Yeah, I know. I read about it in the wiki. The eternal struggle between good (Innocence) vs. evil (Sin). But... with a twist, that's why I kinda like it. The makers of this game and it's story are not exactly AAA mainstream and that's what I like about them.

This over here. Breachstones give so much XP that there were more level 100's last league then every league before it combined. I almost considered doing it myself, but with level 100 so easy to do, it takes the sense of fun out of doing it. I would rather have it happen through natural mapping but I ultimately get bored on the 98-99 stretch.

didnt they nerf them?
I would be talking out of my ass if I answered yes or no to this question, since I have not bothered trying them this league yet. I should probably have clarified in my post that I meant from the previous league's experience. Either way, I can't really see them being nerfed to worse than running maps with sextants.

They got nerfed significantly, but they are still way better than maps per unit run. Of course, given their current relative scarcity and high price due to retardedly "balanced" Betrayal mechanics, it's a much less exciting proposition than last league.
Beachhead is still quite good to go, though.
Much safer than mapping as well.

Playing a Chaos Witch Bane build these days, and I must say it's a pretty powerful skill right from the start.

Is Path of Exile still easy as sleep on Normal and Nightmare? I was so bored with it a couple of years back, because until you get to Hell or its equivalent, you can just sleep through the gameplay. Diablo 2 was much better in that regard.

There haven't been difficulty levels in PoE for a long time. Try playing the game and see how you like it.

(Yes, the campaign is relatively easy if you know what you're doing, don't have a shitty build and cap resists. But levels 1-70 aren't supposed to challenge veteran players.)

That's bad design. Good design (as in Diablo 2) had normal and nightmare be quite challenging, and hell be super challenging. What's the point of playing diablo-clones if there is no challenge at all? You basically grind the first 60 hours just to get to the fun parts?

60 hours? You can finish main story and get to the maps in 2 evenings. In 1, if you know what you are doing.

Bullshit, PoE leveling difficulty has been constantly lowered since beginning (mostly through powercreep though) but still it's considerably harder than D2. Drop your rose tinted glasses, D2 was VERY EASY. The only reason D2 even had build diversity is the very low difficulty.

Kitava can still one-shot you. Just because.
..and Akaali, Abberath(it's an easy fight, but if you're not careful/maxed fire res you can get oneshot by the meteors), Solaris/Lunaris, random Betrayal encounters(might be just in maps, though?), random Beast-league reds and so on.

Diablo 2 on the other hand, you have to actively make hard yourself. Doesn't make it a bad game by an stretch, but it isn't really a hard game. Obviously not Diablo 3 levels of facerolling.

well, i suppose that if you are new to POE, leveling up to maps will be more difficult than D2, but for different reasons.
main reason is that POE builds are way more complicated and you if you trust your intuition alone, you are ready to fck yourself if unlucky.

let a new player start POE blind and without any guidance...compare that to D2

When D2 just came out, anything higher Normal was pretty difficult (tbh even just beating Diablo himself was not easy unless you were Amz with guided arrow or similar character). Characters were simply not balanced for them, and most people never reached high level. The only ones who did invented xp trains and used party effort to level up a single character to beat the ladder. If you had bad weapon you just couldn't do it; and some classes were just impossible to play (Necro and I think casters really suffered).

After synergies and stuff, you could roll up to Hell and level to ~85 completely naked as Sorc/Druid and so on. But during first months of Battle.net, it was cool and difficult.

And PoE, PoE system bloated with stuff, and is a child of ever increasing DPS/HP race, so of course old content can't cope.
