Is there going to be another league before PoE2?

I skipped this one since i did the one that ended in August and i needed a buffer. Would like to pick up the game again at the start of the next league but i'm not sure if PoE2 will be out by then.
At least one more for sure and then PoE2 beta if not delayed.

Shouldn't this league come with a major atlas rework? New bosses or something, as usually happens every end of year league? Ultimatum returning doesn't quite count imo.

Normally yes but they skipped it this year and added Trans gems and Ascendancy fluid options instead (very fitting for current year)

I was going to argue they'd probably delay PoE2 launch until december 2024 so they could drop it instead of a big PoE update, but it seems more likely they'll drop poe2 summer/autumn next year then.

Are the new ascendancies in addition to previous ones, or a replacement of? (ie do you pick warlock instead of normal ascendency, do you pick both but you have the regular 8 total points to spend on ascendencies, or do you get 8 normal points and 8 league points)

This league gonna be wild. I was adamant to start as RF Inq but now I shelved it.
Gonna start with either Toxic Rain Pathfinder (mostly to listen new voice overs) or summoner Guardian with new giant-chad and some uber new spectres.

I agree. Rogue Trader is coming one day before and I can spend whole PoE1 league for a change having fun from start to finish :P

in addition to
that still leaves two options. how many total points ?

Realistically I won't play this league anyway, but I'm still curious.

no, it doesn't

they're completely seperate systems

one you get from lab

the other you get from doing league quests
The reason I ask is that in PoB right now they use the same pool. And having seen this it did feel suspiciously generous that GGG would just give you so much extra power with no drawback.

I mean you can just watch the announcement video. It's right there in the Q&A, there's nothing to question unless they straight up lied

Played it this league, would not recommend. Unless you use Quill Rain for the projectile speed QoL. But if you use Quill Rain you need a corrupted Lightning Coil with + to gem levels, and game performance is worse because there's double the amount of TR effects on your screen.
All the time I was thinking how much better the Lightning Arrow Champion I played in Crucible felt.

Man, none of the good starter builds this league look like much fun to me. I might skip this league even though it looks very fun in a number of other ways.

It starts 1 week later on Xbox so if I play it I will get some builds from people that play on PC for their 1st week. I will try this league for sure, when depends on if Rogue Trader will be playable at release or if I will need to wait X months for patches.

Any promising interactions with the ascendancy classes that you guys are looking for?

Thematically, I think it's kind of a missed opportunity that tinctures don't work with concoction skills.

I think I'll just brute force into maps with summoner guardian and farm some mid tier maps for juice. I'll decide after that if I play another build or not depending on drops and my patience.

Edit: Also still no info on any new versions of RF, copium reserves are depleting...

Maps are completely useless for drops. Only useful currency/items I got last league was from Expedition and Blight. In the past it was Heist but I cba to play Heist again.
And now with alternate quality gems removed from Heist I never ever need to touch that boring shit.

It boggles my mind to this day that they're unwilling to slow the gameplay down by making enemy attacks easier to see coming and dodge, lower movement speeds or the like, but in nearly every league there's some sort of mechanic that forces you to stand around doing absolutely nothing for like 30 seconds on each map, which is even more jarring with the zoom zoom gameplay, not to mention utterly fucks with all sorts of things that depend on momentum, like flasks, berserking, rampage, charges, temporary summons, and so forth. Not feeling like I can play those kinds of builds comfortably and do league mechanics is a big part of why I stopped playing, I think, because I love that shit. Good luck playing your rampage berserking flicker strike character when you lose all your stacks of everything 4-8 times in each map.

Didn't they skip last year too? Not that I'm complaining, I think the atlas is in a good state right now and atlas passives are probably one of the best things they've added to endgame.

I avoid all builds that depend on upkeep of 4s or 10s buffs to be good like a plague. If I cannot stop for 10, 20 or 30s to look at what has dropped so I can pick up some of it to identify (SSF) or for selling (to vendors) fuck that shit.
As for slowing down the game, that is coming in PoE2 hopefully for real and I am excited.

I hate that what they did with skill gems is what support gems should be doing in the first place. This is an issue that has been repeated year after year.

True, but there are so many active skills that introducing new support gems that are too broad is becoming impossible, some support gems are so specific that they can easily be a passive point. Gone are the days of supports like LMP/GMP, Multistrike, Chain etc. It's just there is too much shit already.

Too late for that. Players are used to linking 5 damage supports, all their special supports are/were ignored.
They would need to remove most damage supports and rebalance all enemy life.
