Oh yes I'm the great pretender
pretending I'm doing well
my need is such
I pretend too much
I'm lonely but no one can tell
oh yes I'm the great pretender
adrift in a world of my own
I play the game
but to my real shame
you've left me to dream all alone

Too real is this feeling of make-believe
too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal

Oh yes I'm the great pretender
just laughing and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I'm not you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
pretending that you're still around yea ooh ooh

Too real when I feel (what my heart) can't conceal

Oh yes I'm the great pretender
just laughing and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I'm not you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
pretending that you're pretending that you're still around

So, this game got pushed back to January 23, 2013. It was supposed to come out in December, but at least it has a solid and confirmed release date now. Hopefully. :(

Seriously?

I'm getting tired of this shit. :mad:

It's such a good game, they need to release this fucker already!

It's starting to look as if they're milking folks who donate more than once to expand their stash. :roll:

?? That's part of their monetary scheme anyways. They'll get people paying for stash space when the game is released too.

If anything they're being very cautious about not releasing half done shit like Stardock. They're probably anxious to release to start collecting money on stuff like private servers.

Haven't touched the game in a while myself. I played it a lot a while back, did a week long hard core race (which was fun, but also frustrating due to lag.) I figure I'll come back to it after it's been out for a while and has all the initial bugs worked out.

Yeah, it's quite the opposite. They don't want to launch it around Christmas when most of their staff is off, and have some colossal problems and turn the game's launch into a disaster that turns everyone off.

Sucks for people that are waiting for it like me, but what can you do. Better than rushing it out like Diablo 3 and missing a bunch of key features, and seemingly in a paid beta state.

Good morning.

1. There's thread on it, use search function.
2. Open beta is soon(tm), but it's well worth its ten bucks, it's good.

I did search for it, you ass monkey. No results were found. Searching again only brings up my thread. Taluntain probably didn't install search properly again, so this is his fault.

Exactly. :) http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/path-of-exile-is-a-majestic-incline.73714 this one and there were few others.

Since it's not playable for me and wasn't for quite a time too, you may take my acc if you wish to see if it's worth for you. I'll claim it back later when and if it works again.

Searching for "path exile" in that forum returns 2 threads with it in the title (the above-linked one among them) and one from Saint for me. So... uh?

DU ist too important to waste his intelligence on such mundane activities.

Anyway, try Eador first. That's truly incline, not some less-shitty-than-average hack&slash.

Open Beta is supposed to hit on Jan 23rd. Only spend money on it now if you're bored, it isn't that great.

I'm not really into the ARPG Genre as a whole, but Path of Exile seemed better than most. Then again I only have limited experience.
In conclusion: Good for what it is.

While Torchlight 2 might be better... for what it is (it's on Steam Christmas sale, too).

Nice darkish art style, but bland and clunky. Fight animations resemble robots fucking and gameplay is fairly slow. It's definitely worth the 10 dollars for a beta key, but the setting, lack of story and money-less economy grated on my nerves after a while. It's fairly unique, but that's really the best I can say about it.

I enjoyed TL2 a lot more than this, even though this one has a lot better difficulty curve and some nice ideas in certain places. Health potions, for one thing, were a nice touch. You don't pick up more health potions, you simply equip a potion bottle with the type of stat bonuses you want and then kill monsters to refill it. Makes for more fluid gameplay than having to juggle potions in your belt all the time.

Wait till 23 Jan. Thats the official date of open beta and last global wipe.

As for the game itself, I find it better than Torchlight 2 because of, in my opinion, more interesting character and skill system, also the loot system in PoE is more complex and allows for more sensible builds.

I also prefer the graphics style of PoE to the somewhat cartoony style of Torchlight.

Story is supposed to get a big boost with the introduction of Act 3, and they changed bits of it in Act 1 and 2 in recent patches.

Combat may feel slow and clunky (Especially with Maruder class) at start but it picks up with new skills and with increased amount of enemies in higher difficulties. The first difficulty level is quite easy and rather meant as an extended introduction. It may change with the release of Act 3 at the start of open beta on 23 Jan.

Also, it will be free and fueled by cosmetic microtransactions (Gonna see how well that will work) so if you wait until 23 Jan you wont need to pay anything to check it.

I've played both at length.

Path of Exile is roughly...nine thousand million times better than Torchlight 2, or any other D-clone outer there. Except perhaps Diablo II with Laz's Median XL mod, which is absolutely amazing.

Atm the combat is rubbish due to animations a bit too long and no canceling, plenty of desync issues, some weird behavior with targeting and retarded enemies.
The enemies being retarded brought upon another issue: they fail so much at delivering hits devs buffed the damage a lot and it's now stupidly bursty. Burst damage, coupled with clunky combat and unreliable netcode means the passive tree loses most of its depth and turns into a "hunt the ehp nodes minigame" and as a bonus ranged is a lot more effective than melee.
Another thing that really annoys me with PoE is that focus = efficiency which means despite having a gem system with so much potential the one skill wonder from D2 is still dominant.

Maybe I'm just bitter and annoyed because melee feels so shit to play in PoE.

It's a very mechanically rich game. If developing your character (through levelling, loot, and other means) is what you enjoy about diablo-likes, you'll find a lot to like about PoE. It's also very unlike both Torchlight and Diablo3 in its aesthetic minimalism, to the point where halfway through the second difficulty level your character is still mostly wearing filthy rags. In general, it's a shaping up to be a worthy successor to Diablo 2; it copies most of the good parts, and improves upon a lot of the crappy ones.

Your ignore list.
If DU asks his plebe for something:
  1. bow your head;
  2. leave the room, while still bowing your head, never turning your back to him;
  3. do as he commanded you;
  4. humbly present to him the results of your efforts;
Some people just don't get it.

Incorrect. Those other threads are in the incorrect forum and should be moved here. :smug:

Cool, I'll wait until then to check it out. It doesn't seem like the kind of thing I'd want to spend money on - although it does seem like the kind of thing where I'd want to kill an hour or two.

It's not really an MMO, unless you go PvP mode I guess. Didn't investigate that part yet. Otherwise, it's pretty much Diablo with hubs where the MM part sorta kinda occurs and where you can make a party to go into the non-hub zones. Think GW1 model if you've seen it - MMO social/vendor hubs and single/party adventure zones.
