You do not reach lvl20 in normal play without dlc. I do not know if there are tricks & exploits to reach it, but not in normal play. Around lvl 18 by the end should be normal. You are doing fine.

Serious question. Can you reach level 20??? I am at the start of Pitax
wait for it.

and don't forget the codex quest (pirates)

Unless there's something new... I am reaching lvl 18 max, unless I disable XP sharing for skill checks.
You get more XP now in HATEOT? Oh and I already did beneath the stolen land (just 46k XP for THAT boss, underwhelming)

Is there a timer for the main quest in chapter 2
So far I'm getting used to the whole kingdom management, the whole building placement is probably the worst part of it. I didn't know it was almost basic level style of placement, I thought you could've at least visited the buildings you've made but nope its kinda mobile-esque.
Anyways I'm being slow as usual and I'm not sure if theres a timer but people are coming to the throne room saying that the trolls are fucking up the land and I should hurry up.
Even the guy at the Lone Hut "Bartholomew" he got attacked by trolls and I had to save him (had to reload to actually save him midfight). I don't know if I should even do the lost child quest or just bust my ass doing the troll quest at this point. The stupid swamp witch lady is telling me to pick up her groceries before she helps me with the trolls and Taruk or whatever is backing stirring shit.

Ravness, it is on a timer.

You should go to Bart fast, but I see you are past that point already. More often than not, you can wait until the related Kingdom Management "Problems" start piling up (it takes about 2 months iirc), but why don't you go there and be done with it.

Lost Child can wait, although now that you have already done the Swamp Hut region it is fast to do.

Even bigger spoiler:
When you go to the Troll lair, do not forget to bring Harrim, Ekun and Jubilost with you

I thought you could easily reach level 20 in the main campaign, now?

I do no think so. I did almost everything last time (incl. Ch 7), and finished lvl 18. I sneaked through HATEOT instead of fighting, so I missed some XP there, but no way they could have taken me to lvl20. Maybe, MAYBE lvl19, but not 20.

Anyway, I will get back on this when my current playthrough is over (now that I have a much better idea what I am doing). I am playing the EE without any dlc.

If you funnel experience of diplo skill checks to your mc you can reach level 20 before dealing with Iorveth your with your mc. That means every character will be level 20 at funhouse.

Serious question. Can you reach level 20??? I am at the start of Pitax and level 16. So basically like pre-EE... am I wrong? Did I miss anything?
>Can you reach level 20?
Yes, you can. Pirate quest and Amrag's tomb diplomacy checks. Will reward you with tons of experience, if your MC is able to succeed through it.

Don't have to. As long as your MC passes through the two big diplomacy checks, then you're fine. Namely, the Pirates of Pitax, and the very first speech check when entering the map for Armag's tomb.

Well, if your MC is not hoarding the xp for himself, no need for the MC to be the one passing the checks.

entire main quest chain is on a timer.
you better prioritize trolls first.

Thanks, I'll get on that. I guess I have to manage my time more wisely in the future

I think level 18 on whole party is quite real at the end of Pitax without hoarding exp on PC - main condition is to chose highest DC possible in every situation and never skip 30+DC skill checks with alternative solutions. Maybe even 19 before HATEOT.

Anyway, most builds peak at level 17-18 and not that different in power level next to their lvl 20 versions. Well, beside some stupid mistakes like full casters crippled by 2-3 lvls dips into Vivi/Monk/Fighter early.

There's alot of neutral alignment dialogue choices in this game, to the point where if you don't pick neutral its almost a detriment

If you tend toward chaos or evil, Tsanna is pretty fun as a Councilor. "Of course I love you peasants ! That's why I'm not helping you, so you'll become self-reliant instead of a bunch of coddled whiners."

Even though I've already decided to be LN/LG the next time I'll play the game, I'm seriously tempted to name her High Priestess, just to see how it'll turn out.

lawful neutral best kingdom building

neutral good most optimal

chaotic neutral the fun one

evil for capital ambience

Neutral good more optimal for what? Lawful evil is defintly more "optimal" with stocks and bulletin board combo.

Alright been playing a bit more and finished off Troll Trouble

I've followed the advice of you guys and brought Ekun, Harrim, and that asshole gnome.
  • Let the Troll kids live and Killed the dad to finish off Ekun's quest. Probably should've killed them all off, but we'll see.
  • Killed off the Big Troll first (took a couple reloads because he hits like a truck) then killed off Tartuk. Couldn't let him go because he's too much of a cunt and basically raided my lands too much
  • Harrim ended up destroying the anvil, dunno if there was an alternative path to that one so it would benefit me but whatever. Emo dwarf is emo
  • Old Swamp lady didn't do shit for me, I still have to do the "Banquet" quest so maybe she'll be useful then.
Alright I'm to the point where I see why people may complain about the kingdom management part. You can't assign multiple projects to level up, you have to individually wait 14 damn days for something to happen, and the other projects take about 45-60. If anything else I'm not sure if i should focus on the rank ups or just the regular projects first. I still feel that I need a bit more explanation on why I should build the towns, I'm not sure if the game tells you if the kingdom stats matter in a certain way but yeah. Game great, kingdom management is so-so

Prioritize rank ups. Artisan loot and specific regions, are locked behind Advisor ranks.

They're not important in the grand scheme of things. Event cards and problem cards will you give you far more than buildings. Buildings are mainly used to squeeze the extra points for the early game. The most important rank to get in the early game is Divine rank 3-4. As it opens up teleporters. You also want to shoot for espionage as well, that one needs 60 in relations. I think rank 3-4, not sure.
