Goddamn, Lich is fucking based -
you build a gigantic ziggurat in Drezen, so that your teacher who is a lich you freed from his imprisonment can cast rituals to prepare your soul for the transfer to lichdom. He builds a giant pillar of skulls there, almost like the one in Avernus in D&D, then this pillar becomes your advisor(s). You swear fealty to Urgathoa, become a lich, gather undead, including aristocratic vampires from Geb and all over the neighbouring countries. Get war declared on you by Mendev, then solve a minor civil war between the followers of the goddess and more free thinking undead, and finally place a curse on the former Sarkoris, so that Pharasma gets mad enough to send her most powerful planar servants against you. Then you pwn her minions and basically become a minor deity by granting spells to your undead followers. You can also resurrect demons from the dead with the help of Orcus or Urgathoa. Hooo, boy.

What about the Demon path?
Haven't found it in the files yet. Guess it should be there but there are a LOT of demons, so yeah.

edit: went through it with some key words, and it seems that people from 4ch were right - the demon is the one most unfinished right now. Found some companion comments -
"\"Nothing bad has happened yet, right? You can still back down? Of course you can!\" {n}Seelah is looking at your face cautiously.{/n} \"And you will, won't you? Why do we need this darkness? Tell me! We don't need it to chop demons' horns off.\""
},
{
"\"I'm afraid the next crusade will come for our heads after our victory.\""
},
{
"\"I feel anger... Oh no, not again. Desna, forgive me and protect me from temptation.\" {n}Arueshalae wrings her hands, her lips whispering a desperate prayer.{/n}"
},
{
"{n}Camelia laughs silently, covering her mouth with her hand.{/n} \"A crusade commander accepts demon power to fight demons. What an unconventional approach to solving the Worldwound problem.\""
},
{

"\"I look at you and I see war.\" {n}Ember sniffles.{/n} \"But I want the war to be over...\""
},
{

"{n}Lann looks around with loss.{/n} \"Demons? In our crusade? I forgot, who am I fighting for here again?\""
},
{
"{n}Regill looks you in the eye defiantly. If a look could kill after first sticking nails under one's fingernails and dismembering them into four parts, you would hardly survive this day.{/n} \"You are rapidly losing my trust,\"{n} he says through his teeth.{/n}"
},
{
"\"A demon heads the crusade for the sake of own power. What a disgrace!\" {n}Seelah spits.{/n}"
},
{
" "{n}Sosiel shakes his head sadly.{/n} \"I'm afraid, after you win, you will simply replace the destroyed monsters.\""
},
{
"\"Now you also have demon power inside, {mf|master|mistress}!\" {n}Wenduag looks around.{/n} \"Now everyone will say you are a traitor. That you are an outcast among crusaders. Don't believe them! You've chosen the right path! And envy, cowardice, and weakness are bad advisors.\""
},
{
"{n}Like Iomedae once rejected her humanity to ascend and gain divinity, you are ready to make the first step on the path of gaining power.{/n}"

Also Aru has a pretty special reaction to you choosing the demon path -
"{n}Arueshalae walks toward you with unusual determination. She looks you straight in the eye, takes a breath to speak, but at the last moment she's overcome with shyness. She looks away. Releasing a shaky breath, she quietly says,{/n} \"We need to talk. It's... You see, it's very serious. I don't want to upset you, but...\""
},
{
"{n}Finding her courage, Arueshalae meets your eyes once more.{/n} \"Your power is slowly turning you into a demon. That is bad. Very bad. I don't know... I'm sorry, but I just don't know if I can stay on your side if you continue down this path!\" {n}After this outburst, Arueshalae lowers her gaze again, as though frightened by her own words.{/n}"
},
{
"\"What's wrong with it? Look around — haven't you seen what demons have done to your plane? We're at war with them, they're our enemies! Even if you defeat Deskari and Baphomet — will it even be worth it if you yourself surrender to the Abyss?\""
},
{
"\"No, I...\" {n}Arueshalae shakes her head.{/n} \"The crusade is a just cause. You're winning, the demons are retreating. I will stay in your party...\" {n}Arueshalae trails off, but you understand the words she didn't have the heart to speak aloud: \"For now.\"{/n}"
},
{
"{n}Arueshalae smiles.{/n} \"I knew it. You took this power because it promised victory in the crusade. Believe me, I know how tempting power can be. But don't let your power turn you into a monster, all right?\""
},
{
"\"Maybe you're right. It's just... You only shared a fraction of your power with me. If your power is demonic — won't it poison me? Won't it make me go back to... the way I used to be? The thought alone makes me want to run far, far away.\""
},
{
"\"I would have said the same thing before. I would have laughed, maybe even attacked the other person... I'm now ashamed of how I used to be. And I'm sad that I never had a friend to lecture me, a friend who tried to stop me doing so much evil.\""
},
{
"\"Don't talk like that! Do you really think the only way to win is to sacrifice your soul to the Abyss? I don't believe that! I refuse to believe that!\""
},
{
"\"Yes. Talking to you about this wasn't easy for me, but... Please, heed what I said. I am on the path to Elysium. You are on the path to the Abyss. And if nothing changes... sooner or later our paths will diverge.\""
},
{
"{n}Arueshalae stares at the ground.{/n} \"I want to help you win this war. It's just... I don't want to lie to you. I'm with you now, but things can't continue this way forever.\""
},
{
"\"Thank you. As long as we're traveling the same road, I will fight for you with everything I've got. But don't ask me to sacrifice my soul... Or whatever it is I have in place of one.\""

Also, Aivu, your Azata dragon companion is super cute -
Okay fuck my abstinence I've gotta get back in right now.

One question though. You can't go around the sword for the Angel Path at all I believe, interacting with it doesn't screw up any of the other paths does it?

Don't know, but all the starting interactions with Lann, Wenduag and Mongrels mention that sword. I guess you can't go around it at all. I think it depends more on your alignment and some actions - like clearly refusing to give the wand to a lich for example, to block the mythic path.

More Aivu cuteness and heart -

state of companion classes, if you don't want to overlap with them
we got cleric, wizard, rogue, 2xfighter (wink), monk, paladin, ranger, shaman, witch, oracle, slayer companions
we got hellknight and assasins as prestiges.
we don’t have: barbarian, bard, druid, sorcerer, warpriest, skald, magus, kineticist, inquisitor, hunter. bloodrager, arcanist, alchemist companions
It's going to be me(cleric), the cleric, the witch, the wizard, the oracle, and the shaman. Tips on my team composition?

have you tried switching wizard for a paladin (snickers)

Got a hairs-breadth into the Alpha before stopping myself, just long enough to behold that gloriously janked in-engine cutscene. I don’t want to spoil my first impression too much.

Yeah, the cutscene needs some work.

That's new for the Version 2 Alpha and yes it's really janky. Haven't seen any other cinematics though and everything else is looking pretty good. Some things are clearly unfinished though, like the new (female) Wizard companion has Lann's voiceset.

Cleric is a pretty good choice in my opinion, you don't get the Cleric companion until Act 2. Personally I'd go for an Animal Domain for the companion, and probably build them as either an archer or a tank given your plan.

purpleblob

I will buy if encounter design is good, how would you rate?
Notably better than Kingmaker. The AI seems much improved, more handplaced encounters and less trash, and some cool setpiece-type battles (the one in Act 1 where you have to withstand a siege on your base stands out in particular).

So is it possible to Make Arueshalae Proper Demon Again? It seems she rejects the protagonist if he becomes a demon and is very stubborn in her believe in redemption.

This game is probably going to fulfill my fantasy of playing a holy inquisition group against heretics demons like I've always dreamed of from a WH Fantasy RPG. Aeon would probably be the best path thematic-wise. Angel is too anime for anything really.

Owlcat, bite the bullet and let me have my harem already.
Were you not satisfied with the Tiefling twins in Kingmaker? They were even red for your convenience.

No, I want a full on harem on my Demon playthrough.

1. By the way, did Owlcat say anything about the rumoured "secret" Devil mythic path?
2. What's the Demon mythic path like, story-wise? Is it "fight fire with fire", "better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven", or some different concept?

Regarding 1: Even if we dont get Devil mystic path we may get reflavoring of Demon Path, I think in Kickstarter update it was mentioned that Archdevils of hell are potential group that can support your crusade against demons, so Devils are certainly involved.

So your Necromancy teacher doesnt betray you ? Mhhh seems like even Evil characters are gonna be characters first, should have expected Owlcat to do that considering Wrath of Righteous was Good-only Tabletop and they expanded it significantly.

I guess you will have to corrupt her slowly and carefully, kinda of Succubus approach if you will.

I see myself out

What's the difference, story-side, between Golden Dragon and Angel? They seem rather redundant to one another.

Let's compile all the Buy-In Points for the Paths in the alpha so far. There's the Buried Sword for the Angel in the beginning caves, and what else?

Aeon: Find the knife in the marketplace where the dragon died
Azata: Finish the Desna temple quest (IIRC)
Lich: Meet the Lich and take his deal
Demon: Take the "[Demon]" options in dialogue

I wonder if it will be possible to remove the "[Demon]" and other hints in dialogues. As it is possible in Kingmaker now. And just see what happens.

The problem with this approach is the fact that sometimes the dialogues are vague whether they are mythic specific or not.

For example, you arrived to see that one of the captured crusaders are tortured into eating another crusader to become a ghoul. The Lawful Aeon option is to order her to be captured because once a traitor always a traitor regardless of circumstances. The problem is.... in what fucking way does that relates to Aeon at all? From Chapter 1 Aeon is all about "balance in all things and everything should know their cosmic place." There is no way anybody going to think that going inquisition on your soldier arses are part of Aeon mythic path.

The Lawful Aeon option is to order her to be captured because once a traitor always a traitor regardless of circumstances.
This is the truest lawful decision. Lawful is not a humanist, and Western culture is being poisoned by humanism for more than a century. To play Lawful Neutral one needs to get rid of this poison.

No, it is Lawful, but it is not connected to what an Aeon is. Not sure if you have played with the Aeon choice or not, but Aeon should not care about a minuscule person wanting to turn into a ghoul as the story so far up to that point paints that motivation for Aeon is to fix the cosmic balance that went out of whack due to the Worldwound. Not every Lawful option is connected to being Aeon (besides keeping your mechanical alignment). I agree that it is probably the Lawful Neutral way to solve the problem, but based on the writing up to that point the motivation and characterization don't match which is an issue if you are going to remove the [Mythic Path] help text.

Angel Good option is decently consistent (favoring faith in the gods and crusade) but there are some overlap with normal Good options too.

Demon is all RAGE and is clearly telegraphed (as the rage always comes from within in the case of Demon) so it would be easy and is really clear between normal Evil and Evil Demon options.

Not sure yet about Azata/Trickster. Lich can go fuck their bonny self so I don't know as well.

Can't find much, just some mentions and comments from companions -
"{n}Lann looks at you, perplexed, as if you are a mysterious creature from the ocean depths.{/n} \"You know, I don't understand you anymore. What the hell are you doing? I'm not even judging you – I just have no clue what's going on. Are we still in a crusade? Or are you the knight commander of cruising the pubs?\""

"\"{mf|Master|Mistress}! The louder you laugh, the less your enemies do. I can't wait to see the joke you play on demon lords. An all-destructive joke, after which no one will dare go against your will!\""
},
{
"\"Some praise your sense of humor, others curse it. But what can I know about jokes? Before I met you I had no idea they can be a deadly weapon. But I admire another thing about your Drezen: the fact how much this is your city. Everything in it is a direct embodiment of your will, subduing reality as easily as people. I feel sorry for the fools who laugh at you and don't realize your jokes are the sign of unlimited power.\""

"\"Permission to speak freely? I must admit that I've nursed doubts about your ability to lead an army more than a few times. You don't seem to take this seriously at all sometimes, like the war is just a joke to you. But... you keep winning, again and again. Your orders seem crazy sometimes, but they lead us to victory. That means that I should trust you, even if I don't always understand you.\""
},
{
"\"Understood, Commander!\" {n}Irabeth straightens up and stands at attention.{/n}"
},
{
"\"There you go again... How can the Commander of the Crusade talk like that? There's no such thing as \"too serious\" when it comes to this! Although... if you can do what other more serious military commanders failed to do, even with all your joking around...\" {n}Irabeth trails off and shrugs.{/n}"
},
{
"\"Thank you for allowing me to speak plainly.\""
},
{
"\"The gods are helping you, Commander, no one can be in any doubt of that now. And that means that sooner or later you will know exactly what to do!\""
},
{
"{n}Irabeth smiles uncertainly.{/n} \"I don't think my face is as stony as the others'... Either way, I'm glad to see you in a good mood. When the commander's making jokes, the troops know that all is well. And when a commander isn't making jokes, well, that's just as telling...\""

"\"I guess I'll go and celebrate my triumphant return. And you soldier on, keep fighting demons heroically! As soon as you free Iz, report immediately!\""
},
{
"{n}You feel the idea of a great joke forming in your head. An insolent drunkard with kingly claims... What will happen if you support his absurd ambitions?{/n}"
},
{
"\"Are you death or what? You should drink some pine tree infusion, it'll do good for your ears, and eyes too... I'm telling you, all the dead Sarkorian kings are in the ground there. In mausoleums, crypts, and those, what are they called... Obelisks, that's right! And all is written there – about my ancestors, and about me too. Just look there and you'll understand right away, all the laws say I'm the king!\""
},
{
"{n}The idea gains shape, you feel inspiration. Pulura's Falls where the proof of this drunkard's glaring lie can allegedly be found... What if you really go there? There is a queen in Mendev – why don't you make a pet fool king for yourself?{/n}"

No, he is really chill, even allows you to kill him if you want to vent your frustrations, he will return from his phylactery anyway.

ChildInTime What about some Kitsune-specific interactions? :shittydog:

Nope, got nothing, only some ability and racials descriptions. There also aren't any dialogues that mention fluffy tails or foxes.
