Cavalier seems OP for early game. It non stop delivers above 10 points of damage usually between 12-15 and it is actually a double strike because mount itself also makes an attack in my case horse tries to bite.
What difficulty are you playing on?

i dunno, i like the game a lot
It feels like people didn't know what they were getting into with this franchise and weren't mentally prepared for what they are about to witness.

Pathfinder is 3.5 Forgotten Realms, guys, just worse in every possible way. More bloat, more RNG, more nonsensical classes, more cringe. On top of that, Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous are considered part of the worst tabletop modules.

Kingmaker
The Kingmaker AP was an experiment, an attempt to create a sandbox experience with no defined villain. Some things worked, some things didn't. And most of the things that didn't work were fixed in the Owlcat interpretation, as they were supposed to be fixed by the tabletop DM. It's a sandbox experience because the players can make the story about a number of things, and it's up to the DM to realize that and create a plot around it. Naturally that lead to very uneven experiences overall.

Beginning of the game is pretty gay but it gets better. Gotta say I am hooked. Soundtrack fits the situations well. I especially fancy when metal-esque songs start to play.

The autoresolve option for Crusade battles is massively in your favor:

Is it just me or is turn based mode pretty wonky? Units on both side seem to frequently avoid unit collision. Mousing over enemies with bows/spells sometimes triggers AoOs out of sequence.

It still feels like how it's meant to be played though.

Core.

Ughhh 3.5 set rules. I remember why i didn't like Kingmaker or any other 3.5 dnd pcrpg. Stats galore with death by thousand cuts design aka stack shitload of stuff maybe something cool happens 50 hours later or maybe not.

It is. Around 1/5 charges with my cavalier don't work because charge goes buggy and nothing happens wasting my turn.

Since sacrificing children is being brought up often, let's throw this in - In Witcher 3, if you help the Baron and let the ladies of the forest live, you are continuing the practice of child sacrifice.

Yet most players don't go with helping the spirit, which would coincidentially end the child sacrifices, because then the Baron's wife dies. Players are hypocrites. The majority just serve the character with the prettier face and story.

So with the Azata changes if you can survive until mythic rank 4 you can pretty much permanently give yourself and all companions outflank saving massively on feats. For every mythic rank thereafter you can keep stacking free and shared teamwork feats like Seize The Moment, Shield Wall, Precision damage etc. With 4 superpowers you can have permanent haste on MC, fast healing, +10 attack and damage (note it's morale bonus though so not really stackable with alot of buffs) and I don't know have all skills as class skills and proficiency in all weapons.

Azata really turning out great for a martial class but I think especially for a martial/spellcaster hybrid that can't merge with Angel to utilize favourable and zippy magic.

That's how you make a good evil path, make choices the players actually want with clearly evil consequences, but the player has to think his actions through, not the in-your-face "I m evul, muahahah" choices

That's why full party generation is the better solution than just companions
But then woke writer talent would have to stay unemployed :( Let them write words for food!

This is especially grand when you take into account that by any measure Amber Scott has been seriously taking Irabeth as a "successfully subverted trope" on her part and to her own credit.

Magic essence locations in C1 (there are 6, you really want 5 to craft the cat):

Tower of Estrod
Blackwing Library (secret door)
Gwerm's mansion
Grey Garrison (first floor, perception check on rubble)
Grey Garrison (2nd floor, behind mobility check)
One more, not sure where
Belt buckle is in market sqaure
brimorak house

As a Cavalier whose order only allows for you to pick a horse at first, can I discard it in favor of some more exotic mount later on?

And also, will a mount permanently occupy a companion slot?

No, you're stuck with a horse.

Mounts are companions, they don't use slots.

What cat? I crafted the belt buckle.

I skim a lot of the writing here. Most modern cRPGs are painfully overwritten, and most of the writing here isn't worth reading

Yeah I only quickly skim too since sometimes it's info you need for a quest or a heads-up hint to an encounter which can be vital if you didn't spend 1000 hours on beta and can metagame half the game. Much more enjoyable experience not giving a shit about the story but kind of disappointing as well.

Oh, I know. They also expect compensation for whatever it is they do, it's never enough to do it altruistically. I have a tabletop adventure in which I explicitly tell the players they will give up their loot in order to save a character's life and in the two times we played it (with different people) nobody did it. After that, one of the players told me how he expects to get rewarded for saving the character anyway and that the saved character should come and help them in some way after that. It was pretty interesting all things considered.

So I finally found some time to actually play this thing. So much for my vacation.

I am pleased to report that it works well in wine with only minimal effort. Even got mods to work. Got a question though. Arrow quivers on all of my characters are floating in the air a next to their bodies. Is that just me or is the same for everyone? Maybe it's the mod I'm using (Visual Adjustments)?

I see animation didn't improve much. It feels ankward especially in TB mode where you can see each attack. Bows are hilarious since characters shoot instantly.

Also negative - they changed game so that you have to rotate camera non stop.

Anyone here is playing in Azata mythic path? I'm curious about the spells + dragon companion + "superpowers"

I'm playing, its really fun for casters. One superpower makes you cast same spell twice, clearing rooms with 1 chain lightning. Also got nice spells that fully or partially refreshes your and party members main spell book slots.
Dragon is cute and gets bigger, stronger. Can be mountable too, once it grows big enough.

Amazing. I decided. My second run will be Azata. Now, Witch or Wizard?

Angel looks like is amazing for divine casters and martial.

I'd say go magus like me, you can select 4 superpowers now (was 2 in beta) Ehem;

Two for casting two for melee ,
Makes your magus go for a killing spree

(god damn Azata way is growing on me...)

Hey Mer, how are the bugs in later chapter?

So far, I encountered more bugs in ch 2 and 3 than in ch 4 or 5. But is just me.

Isn't it weird how the game has been reviewed by "professional" critics yet not one of them bothered to mention these things? Almost like they don't actually play the games they review...

They play like the prologue and review a 100 hour game with base in 40 minutes of gameplay

Piece of trash game. Basically more of the first one, including all the bugs. Definitely Codex GOTY 2021, some things never change.

PS: Also, no Linux version? Go fuck yourselves with a horse.

Judging a game without even trying it. But I agree. Linux should get a version.

Chapter 3 start to fall a bit apart , that for lich path. Mainly the crusade part, you get 100% more cost on mercenaries, lower recruits growth, but some of your slain enemies are raised as skeletons and zombies. Problem is you dont get near enough of them, and if the main army you fight with does not have undead they just appear on the map as very small new army stack . Then the banner of defense stay red while none of the forts are under siege, which eat the crusade morale and eventually could lead to a game over. Turning the crusade on auto break the mythic path quest as you need specific buildings to be constructed, not to mention you lose ton of content. The crusade management feels like the kindgdom management on kingmaker at release, a pain in the ass , gamebreaking and unfun.
Apparently that was already known in beta and none of our codex champions warned anyone as usual.

I encountered a kinda funny bug:

In the boss battle in the gray garrison you get massively buffed with one of the effects being automatic failure on saving throws against your spells.

The issue here was in every fight someone casted grease on the floor and everyone would fall down, both my guys and the enemy without any ability to stand up.
At first I didn't realise that it was my guys that were somehow using grease but when I did I turned off the ai, only to discover that that didn't stop them from automatically casting the spell.

In the end I had to reload before the fight and un-memorize the spell for it not to be cast and fuck up the entire fight.
