Love Blooms on the Crusade
Dear Pathfinders,
Many adventurers go to Golarion to achieve fame, wealth, and power. But others crave something much more personal—love. When hope is scarce, when endless hordes of demons plague the land and abyssal corruption is tearing the world apart, sometimes only the support of that special someone can help you stay strong. With this stretch goal, we’ll increase your chances of finding true love on the crusade.
The more adventures you experience with your companions, the stronger your bonds become. Some will become your close friends, some will merely cease to be your enemies, and others will straight fall head-over-heels in love with you. Every companion romance is a story that will unfold alongside the main plot.
We’re working to make characters more diverse, and that includes their personalities as well as their backstories. This will heavily influence their routes to romance: you may need to teach your romantic interest what love is, you may pursue someone who wants to be close but who is afraid of getting in too deep, or your chosen paramour may just want to have some fun… And that’s not the end of the list. With your support, we are ready to add two more romance options.
And now for the creative part. If you think that our team just came up with the various romance options themselves, you’re vastly underestimating the magic of game-making! The truth is that we Owlcats simply summoned all the Commander’s companions to the studio and asked them if they were open to a relationship. Here are the answers we received:
“Relation...ship? Thanks, I prefer my pleasure boats… Want to go sailing some time?”
***
“It would be… nice, to love someone. I think.”
***
“Are you sure this is an appropriate question to ask a lady?”
***
“No fraternization.”
***

***
“I am open to more work, so call me when you have someone you need me to kill.”
***
“Do I really have to answer that?”
***
“I haven’t experienced true love yet, but I know that the Goddess will show me the way when the time comes.”
***
“Ha ha, when we win, I’ll be open to a good victory party, that’s for sure!”
***
“Nooooooooo, no, no, no… I don’t want to waste money on a relationship. Those things cost a helluva lot of money! Like, flowers and presents and stuff... and if we get married? And, like, have a dog together? Dogs eat a lot! My friend had a dog once, it ate all his magic scrolls! And then he was killed in a fight, ’cause he couldn’t cast a spell. That’s what a relationship is: you get a dog, it gets you killed, and your wife gets all your dough.”
***
“Ha, good one. Now, what’s your real question?”
Ahem… clearly, after that we needed to conduct further research. And after a while we found out that four of our companions are ready to let romance into their lives, and two more need your encouraging (and our working time) to reveal their hearts’ desires:
Camellia—a half-elf raised in a wealthy but strict household. She has the manners of a lady, the powers of a shaman, and enjoys her newly obtained freedom in the Commander’s company.
Daeran—a young Mendevian noble and an aasimar. Extremely handsome and filthy rich, he loves to scandalize noble society with extravagant parties and wanton behaviour. Does he even have a heart, one might wonder? You can find out for yourself!
P. S. And don’t forget about Queen Galfrey, whose heart is still not taken. The Queen’s Watch still needs more faithful crusaders who are ready to achieve our social goals to win their queen’s heart.
To arms, Crusaders!
