Yeah, and they only add one additional class focused on riding.

Feels like it would NvWN kind of riding thats just tacked on and important for that one particular module.

Maybe it would be good if they re-build what they have around the possibilities of mounted combat but I doubt it.

They just listed cavalier with 4 kits and including barbarian subclass... so you're wrong

IIRC some demons have innate Scorching Rays.

Most glorious thing about Wild Hunt's touch attacks was their Force damage, one type that you can't reduce with protection spells. So it is all about how mean Owlcat's game designer felt when making encounter.

I am a bit conflicted about the whole "mounted combat" thing, because on the one side it's good that class roster expanded greatly with addition Cavalier ( the more classes the merrier), but on the other side there chances that Cavalier will suck (because I can't imagine good mounted combat in dungeons) or that every one else will suck (because there is no dungeons, only open locations, therefore Cavalier will have advantage). Imho adding Gunslinger would be more safe in terms of location design, without risk making dungeon too tight to fit for party mounted on smilodons.

Lol. The Kickstarter comments of old games are like an empty coffee cup - all the good stuff is long gone and only the gunk is left at the bottom. All the people who never got their physical goods for some reason.

Owlcat already has huge menagerie of high-quality animal models and engine that could deal with size-scaling. Changing them into mounts does not seem this difficult and PnP rules cover mechanical parts already.

So imho there are lot less risks that riding will turn into Black-Hole-feature like infamous ship combat.
