What a parody...But since everyone and his dog can become a game journalist this really shouldn't be a surprise.
It's probably the publishers that won't allow it, if Bioware could they would make every character "romanceable". In the cheap action game Drakengard (which I was recently playing) the main character's sister is in love with him, this was censored in the European/American versions even though nothing actually happened between the two. Anyway, censorship is bad in most cases, DA2 being the exception.Jools said:Why, in these games, is it socially acceptable to kill, murder, slaughter, betray, lie, insult, curse, swear, steal, rob, destroy, pillage, and every other "evil" action but not have a quickie with one's sister/brother, them willing?

PCGamer sold out a looooooong time ago. Get with the fucking program.
Edit: It goes as far back as stuffing their magazine wrappers with worthless CDROMs loaded with 1000 of the worst Doom wads ever made.

This is hardly exclusive to games so I don't see what's the big deal here.Violence and a/immoral behaviour are common in all forms of media, incest isn't and is seen as a taboo (in pretty much every culture, afaik, although what qualifies as incest varies from culture to culture, of course). Also, violence and a/immoral behaviour are more common among people than incest, no need to put any imaginable form of deviant behaviour into a mainstream videogame just because you can.

There's a lot of dumb shits who are confused about this apparent paradox. Being the biggest intellectual on this message board, I shall attempt to enlighten the unwashed masses as to why this is so:
Sex, unlike violence, is a normal (and in our culture, heavily encouraged) urge. Bashing people's face in and chopping their heads off is not. So whereas oversexualization of media could lead to dumbfucks engaging in more sex than they should (usually, none at all). it's highly unlikely to lead to dumbfucks bashing each other's heads in with a hammer. In other words, you'd have to be a fucking psycho to to out and kill people because it's enjoyable in videogames whereas you just have to be a dumbfuck to want to have sex because sexual predator sheppard banged a blue alien in mass effect. And God knows there's plenty of dumbfucks out there. Also, killing stuff in video games is likely to help you relax and get your "violence fix". Watching someone else have sex will have the opposite effect.

It's not like it is going to be much of an issue. The two games, combined, don't reach 30 hours gameplay.

How long until we get a retrospective from PC Gamer lamenting how DA2 wasn't as good as everyone said it was?

DAO by itself will take you around 40h if you do every single sidequest. That game's a real triumph of quantity over quality, though some of the sidequests are good fun (not too many unfortunately). But I'm surprised ME1's taking you so long. It was a 30h game for me, and that included all sidequests (playing on Normal). Unless you listen to every line of dialog and read every codex entry... IIRC ME2 was a bit longer (maybe 35h), but it was also much more boring (though not as much as DAO).Trash said:Rubbish and even if it wasn't, I'm a completionist. Barely scratched the main story in ME and I'm already in for 14 hours. Not to mention that my game time is rather limited these days.
