Why is Synedrion hiding (( they don't seem to have a single base in all of asia.

its bad RNG, in my current playthrough jericho spawned on the other side of the globe leaving me without the ability to recruit techs.
How does research work? Sometimes after mission/exploration I'll get Research +500 but it is very unclear what this actually means, and how much additional labs speed things up.
it adds up to your current research project, though i have seen numbers up to 150.
definetely build research labs when you have the materials, you need better weapons to pen mutated pandorians.

the vehicle is nice to have, but yea at the start its better to get another plane.

just found a technician from a random event and he sits useless in my base doing nothing. same with the stealthy synedrion class.

Did he come with 1 or 2 turrets? When you hire some from NJ they usually come with at least one turret. You need to place turrets into global inventory and then reverse engineer option will appear.
Other options is to get NJ to 50 reputation and do their mission, then you will get a lot of their tech.
But even without turrets you can give them some armor, and grenades or GL or a melee weapon (none of these care about proficiency) and a bunch of medkits and use them in battle. They can use medkits for 1 AP. And if you got a vehicle they can use their lvl 3 ability on that to give it extra actions.

So how does this game work, exactly?

How is ammo consumption calculated? Feels like sometimes it's counting per bullet, other times I am asked to replenish after firing one shot. I wouldn't mind, except I am quite literally at 0 materials.
How is "items will be recovered automatically at end of mission" work?

It counts bullets per burst.
So if you have a shotgun with Burst 10 and a magazine that holds 50 rounds, it means you can shoot it 5 times.
When you replenish a half-empty gun in Personal management screen, the ejected magazine is placed in your storage.
But if you reload it in the field, any remaining ammo seem to be lost, which makes sense.

As for recovering items, in those rare cases the enemies drop anything it all, it's mostly crap like ammunition for weapons you don't have/need.
I wonder if the drop chance could be affected by killing enemies without damaging hands or torso, wherever they carry their stuff.

Yeah but what I mean is that after very mission now, the game goes "please replenish your heavy weapon ammo", even though I fired only half a clip. At the same time, the bandit sniper and his rifle saw his ammo count deplete between missions, and no automatic reloading or anything between.

I have more dudes than guns, also you can salvage stuff. Not to mention stuff like medikits which are always useful in large quantities.

That's because you can't manufacture ammo for those bandit weapons. You either have them or you don't.

Can I cross class my starter troops with any of the faction specific classes, or can I only cross from a faction class into assault/heavy/sniper?

faction story missions suck ass, just did the synedrion mission at 49 relations and it didnt progress my faction standing at all.
just sent me after a pirate elon musk, ffs JUST GIVE ME YOUR FUCKING TECH.

Synderion 50 rep mission is two part.

another day, another wipe. ambush 2 flame chirons plus 2 snake women plus the usual lobsters and mr squids.:salute: probably would survive if i had prioritise correctly and build the cyber lab earlier.
maybe hero is better after all.

That sounds like an Ambush in mist area.
