Paladin/Chanter. The importance of summons on PoTD cannot be overstated. Chanters also get a nice healing invocation that will help by not having a priest.

While we're on the subject of having other people build their characters for them, Obsidian is adding pre-made characters in the next patch. I saw it in the game files.

There's only a brief mention of them. I did find the description for spoiled food in the upcoming Rymrgand challenge though.

This unrecognizable mush is the result of food spoilage. Beyond exuding the potent aroma of decomposition, the mush twitches slightly when it isn't closely observed. Not safe for ingestion.

Looks like attributes are better balanced this time around with additive boni? Not as easy to just dump

So, Safav Hamon, would you go single class paladin or Paladin/Fighter? Those max level Paladin abilities sure do look good. Chanter also looks like a good option - self-healing, summons etc.

If your PC is going to be full tank, go either Paladin/Chanter or Figher/Chanter. First option if you want to try your chances with a party that doesn't have traditional healer. It's perfectly viable and arguably better by mid-game, but you'll struggle early, especially in the tutorial island.

Just skip Beckoner, it was nerfed.

Yeah ended up going Paladin/Chanter but with no subclass. Figure my character's focus on healing will work better with more durable summons anyway. Good to know about the start - though I beat Stalwart with a level 5 party so my tolerance for suffering is pretty high lol.

EDIT: ended up going with a 15-16-4-10-15-18 statline, I'm guessing that won't do wonders for that tough start huh

That's terrible honestly

You live and you learn. If this thread is any indication complete min/maxing makes the game too easy later anyway. Terrible how though?

Dumping dexterity and maxing resolve is a bad idea. You're gimping your action speed for a measly +7 deflection. This is what a more optimal Paladin/Chanter build looks like

If the goal is full tank build, his attributes are fine. Put a full plate on it, big shield, hachet for extra deflection and it's going to stand there for hours, absorbing damage and healing people with auras. I've beaten the Seeker/Slayer with similar guy as the only healer.

I'd tank perception over dexterity so he can cast summons faster. Other than that it's fine.

Why would I max Perception? If it's anything like PoE1, a Paladin/Chanter full tank won't hit for much of anything anyway, making the debuff from a modal the only reason to really not dump Per.

First off, full tanks are inferior to a character with both offensive and defensive capabilities.

Resolve is a dump stat. The difference between 7 deflection is completely negligible, but -21% action speed will gimp him the entire game. Maxing intelligence is a priority for all chanters, and adding points into perception means he could do decent damage.

Is there no way to add a general AI for summons? Right now my summons are completely idle unless given specific instructions or assigned an AI for every. new. summon. I just want them to auto-attack as a base.

Shouldn't be using summoner anyway? If we're talking about dumping stats then I assumed we were also using optimized party; if you're gonna go with sub-optimal chars like a Summoner than who cares about dumping a stat.

Except your build isn't -7 deflection, it's a -12 deflection. That's 30% less at the start of the game, definitely not a negligible difference. By level 20 it's still -10% less and big enough to be a difference between having a legendary shield and no shield at all.
