I can't wait to kill me some xaurit god and exterminate some rare vithrack babies, drinking their blood from their forearms. Can I roleplay that?

I don't care whether or not the races are generic. I care about whether or not they do anything interesting with them. If you could work for the Xaurip and scare off human settlers or do something other than slaughter them it'd be interesting. Unfortunately, the "aggressive, can't talk to people and worship dragons" make them sound like fodder you kill on your way to a dragon; likewise with the "aggressive, xenophobic and willing to kill themselves to protect the hive" stuff for the vithrack.

Havn't read the update as I can't be arsed, but like all PoE update emails I quickly scroll through to see if there's anything of interest to me on a surface level. And I must admit, that Vithrack is the first bit of concept/character art that I like. Looks like something out of Guillermo Del Toro's mind. 'Course liking something because it reminds you of something else you like isn't really doing much for my perception of Obsidian and PoE as being creative, interesting or inspired either.

Weird that he made Vithrack males and females "indistinguishable from each other" and living in society... spiders are not ants.

Would be more interesting to have one huge female warrior with a couple of smaller males spellcasters, living isolated.

Actually there are rare species of spiders that operate as a community, http://www.newscientist.com/article...ders-live-and-hunt-together.html#.U76bPpR_vns , mental powers tho... no confirmed sightings of mind raping spiders.

I don't mind the weird names, as long as they are kept consistent and simple enough that over the course of a natural playthrough you can figure out how some of the conjugations work and therefore get a sense that it's a real language.

Now, if the dialogue lines are going to be like "By Xanadu's bronzeheims, that Biawac over there is destroying a large crong of Viallieuxian Zoombolas!" ...

Yup. "Hey, think you can break out our shaman and help him round up some people for the ceremony? If we don't get it done, the dragon will wake up and burn down everything in this area" is more interesting than "we needed some filler, so here are some trash mobs for you to slaughter on your way to talk to the dragon...don't worry, they won't hurt you." If something's a mindless trashmob, I don't really care whether or not it's a lizard-dog like DnD or a frog-cat like XYZ generic fantasy rpg.

Honestly I love Mindflayers THIS MUCH so I don't mind them having them here in some form or another. I even dig the new Arachnid take on them. Spiders creep me out so this is just adding a new layer of creepy for me. Fuck it I don't care. Psionic hybrid humanoids are cool. Make them any kind I don't care. Even worm humanoid psionics would be cool and creepy to me.

No drows sucks. I hope there's some other race of exotic sex-specialists. Kinkylinkykink.

The new mindflayers sound Martha Stewartian. Weaving their own garments? Eh.

It's kinda, sorta strange that we haven't seen any Aumaua, Godlike or Orlan in-game models yet and the Backer beta is coming out soon.
