Only time I noticed reputations "mattering" is at the end of act 2.

And they only matter in the sense that the resolution of the trial in NWN2 mattered. Except a bit less even.

Well, if I buy it on Steam I would have a bit left over for whores since it's way cheaper there. But I don't use Steam for games that I actually want.

Killed a child just to check if the game allow it. (seems that those aren't essential, but some other characters might be)
Strangely, it got the same rating from ESRB than Fallout 3, in which half of the gameworld population is essential/unkillable.

Keep in the mind child killing was allowed in glorious Kwa. It's Germany and Australia that have a problem with that aspect.

I just got past the Keep too, and I want to spend allll my money pimping it out. Is there any negative to just sitting and letting time elapse until all your upgrades are finished building? I'd rather let those all finish up before I start adventuring again, but I don't want a quest to suffer or anything either.

I did some stuff in the city and I really wish I had got the dungeon upgrade for the keep first.

It seemed to me that, in the 90s it was accepted in some countries and not others, but these last few years, it became common to forbid it everywhere...

It never had. Bethesda just doesn't want to make multiple versions of their games (and neither does any AAA). So they make it to be accepted by the German board and everyone else gets it.

I've played about 3 hours, I'm enjoying it.
Early impressions.

* There is definitely not enough information provided for my liking in regards to "what everything does" moar feedback and explanation would be helpful. I haven't dug into the manual however, but in this brave new world of digital release, if they are going to save on printer costs and shipping they can put more of the information in game as far as I'm concerned.

* The engagement system is very different to IE games and takes a bit of getting used to. All of the previous posts about how having to use choke points as a tactic is limiting is very strange and of course you would focus fire on the biggest threat to your group, just like in BG1 and 2 etc.

* I actually really like the chose your own adventure screens to resolve situations, seemed lame before release, but it suits the game perfectly somehow.

* The enchanting weapon/armor system is jarring too. I think I would prefer to just be able to find epic shit, instead of collecting 1000x mats to create the ubersword somewhere down the line.

* The game is really beautiful. Fuck 3d graphics, I could play a RPG with this graphical style every year till I die.

Best game I've played so far this year.

The "manual" you get with the basic edition is pretty barebones to be honest. It gives a brief explanation of primary stats, how combat works, class abilities, spells, etc. There are a couple of tables near the end that show levels of progression, but nothing lke in BG/IWD manuals. The other game editions have extra shit (a strategy guide?), so maybe those are better. Haven't been able to play the game (took half a fucking day to download all 6.6GB from GoG on this shit Mexican internet).

Never played any IE games except Torment, dislike RTwP in general... and I'm really liking it so far. :incline: Best Kickstarted game?

If Melcar's post hasn't made it clear: The manual gives less actual information than the game. So you've gotten your Brave New World. The only problem is that it lacks information ;)

I was told my char got a point in a "Disposition". How do I check this? I don't see anything like that on the character screen.

It shows up under reputations I believe. Things like "clever" and "stoic".

I really liked how Baldur's Gate series solved this (ie. there were only a few items you could craft using hard to obtain ingredients and only by certain NPCs). In general, I dislike crafting - it creates imbalance, always turns into a chore and is simply not satisfying. I'm also a person that is paralyzed by such choices - always wondering if there's better stuff just around the corner and thus I should save my ingredients for later...

Thanks. I guess individual points aren't tracked, then.

There are many things that are puzzling. For example, what to infer from something like this:
Ooze hits Calisca for 5 Corrode damage
[GAME PAUSED: weapon ineffective]
? Now, obviously, the ooze has corroded Calisca's weapon, in the noble tradition of Rust Monsters and various Oozes from the 80s, right? Wrong. There's nothing wrong with Calisca's weapon. I guess, maybe, that slashing weapons are completely ineffective against Oozes or something. Makes sense (in the Fantasy Pickwickian sense of making sense, of course).

Are there really no weapon skills? Anyone can use a dagger or a pole arm?

No arrows / bolts?

There are Weapon Focus: Something that increases your proficiency with a group of weapons. There are about 6 types of weapon focus, grouped more or less by background/profession/social class.

No arrows / bolts?

Infinity Infinite magic standard ammo for all!

Some areas are excellent, but the designers added a lot of unnecessary hand-holding...

That Skaen Temple is a good example. It has two entry points, and to avoid having players miss the backstory there's not one, not two, but THREE copies of the "Final Journal of Jonas" scattered around the place. Quite silly. Also, there's a chasm that you need a hook & grappling rope to cross. It's an optional path, that in theory should be a reward players that are well-prepared, but there are three sets of rope & grappling hook spread through the level as well.

It cheapens the game, makes being prepared pointless and feels like something made for people like the Polygon guy that got "stuck" in Fallout.

Thanks. But what are those "Foci"? I didn't have any chance to choose them during character creation. Do you choose them later on?

Also: I'm playing a chanter but I seemingly never had the chance to use an invocation yet despite chanting my 2 phrases many times. Is there a symbol somewhere which would tell me when I can attempt an invocation?
