Ker follows the other carefully, checking for signs of vines on the floor, walls and ceiling.

Cormac walks carefully to the closet. "What are you guys looking at?" Cormac takes a look at the clay urns for any distinctive markings.

As Ker, Marcán and Cormac enter the room to check on Rhenmyr, Borric and Sokrates also enter the room hoping to see what the fuss is all about.

Chance for vines to notice the party: Marcán [1d6] = 4, Ker [1d6] = 3, Cormac [1d6] = 1, Borric [1d6] = 6, Sokrates [1d6] = 6 (1 is bad)

Unfortunately Cormac isn't as stealthy as he should be and trips over a bit of tubing that runs across the floor to the recess, which in turn yanks out of one of the glass vats that sit full atop a pedestal. Faintly glowing green liquid begins gushing out of the bottom of the vat splattering the tile floor and the animated mass of vines. Subsequently four large tentacle like stalks with thorny, bulbous ends rear up to their full height and then surge toward you all.

Roll initiative!
Vines: [1d6] = 2

Borric and Sokrates: [1d6] = 2

Rhenmyr and Cormac notice the surging tendrils in the wan light and jump to action before anybody else . . .

All of the action for Sokrates, Borric, the tentacle-thingy and Ker happens simultaneously (Marcán goes after if he can). If somebody wants to take actions for Borric or Sokrates let me know for subsequent rounds, but for this round I'll "drive" them. Meanwhile ...

The tenebrous vines, slick with ooze and smelling of rotted offal lurch out and extend themselves to their full length, which easily covers the distance from the center of the room where a great bulbous bulk sitting atop a writhing mass of smaller vines appears to begin "crawling," its ponderous bulk inches along very slowly over the floor (ten feet per round).

The four dark vines as thick as a man's arm, snap forward like vipers:
(Targets: 1=Rhenmyr, 2=Marcán, 3=Ker, 4=Cormac, 5=Borric, 6=Sokrates)
Vine targets [1d6] = 1, [1d6] = 2, [1d6] = 2, [1d6] = 4
1 vine attacks Rhenmyr Vine Attacks Rhenmyr [1d20+6] = 8+6 = 14, Damage [1d6] = 6, 2 in 6 chance to be entangled [1d6] = 1 stuns him for 6 damage and coils itself around your arms and torso (save or take automatic damage next round).
2 vines attack Marcán Vines attack Marcán [1d20+6] = 8+6 = 14, [1d20+6] = 7+6 = 13, damage [1d6] = 1, [1d6] = 5 Inflicting 1 HP of damage (2 in 6 chance to be entangled) Marcán's chance to be in entangled (2 in 6) [1d6] = 2 (No attack this round, roll a saving throw to break free or take automatic damage next round).
1 vine attacks Cormac Vine attacks Cormac [1d20+6] = 15+6 = 21, damage [1d6] = 4, chance to entangle (2 in 6) [1d6] = 6 The vine slaps Cormac for 4 damage and knocks him unconscious, but doesn't wrap itself around the hapless cleric.

Borric goes Berserk (+2 to-hit and +2 to damage for 1 round, -2 to AC, winded afterward (-2 to-hit and saves for an hour). Borric's berserk attack with his maul [1d20+4] = 11+4 = 15, damage [2d4+4] = 5+4 = 9 His great two-handed hammer comes overhead in a crushing downward arc and flattens one of the vines with a sickening thud. The ruined vine begins whipping about violently in the air and then recoils to the bulbous mass in the center of the room.

Sokrates shouts a battle cry of "Mitra!" and rushes to the aid of Cormac slicing viciously with his hand-and-a-half sword. Sokrates sword attack [1d20+2] = 13+2 = 15, damage [1d8+2] = 5+2 = 7 He also manages to slice deeply into the offending tentacle, but doesn't appear to have "killed" it.

Struggle as he might Marcán is held fast (You don't take automatic damage until next round on the creature's turn).

Rhenmyr grabs at the vine attempting to wrap itself around his neck and manages to rip it away and jump clear by several feet.

Borric starts huffing and puffing, clearly winded from his exertions, but his eyes are no less wild and full of malice. He leaps in the air with his maul held high over his head and brings it to bear against the vine coiled around Marcán Borric's attack against the vine [1d20] = 8, damage [2d4+2] = 3+2 = 5 but his swing misses the mark and rebounds noisily off of the flagstones of the floor, sending a shower of stony chips flying through the air.

Sokrates continues his assault on the vine in front of him Sokrates sword vs. the damaged vine [1d20+2] = 4+2 = 6, damage [1d8+2] = 7+2 = 9 but his sword finds only air against the whip-like vine.

Marcán struggles mightily against the vine, but it continues to coil and constrict, wrapping itself around his torso and squeezing the air from his lungs.
Vine constriction against Marcán [1d6] = 4 damage. The cracking of his ribs is audible to those nearby.

Ker darts into the room Rhenmyr was investigating and quickly unstoppers one of the barrels. A strong odor of mineral spirits assaults your nostrils (Ker's move is done for the round, but if you want to do something else with the barrel that can be done quickly (say ten seconds or so) go ahead).

Cormac lies still on the ground, his condition unknown at this point.

The tar-sealed jars and tubes are around too, right?
Ker grabs a glass beaker and a sealed jar then fills the beaker with mineral spirit.
I'm pretty sure the whole building will burst if I use a whole barrel of that stuff :terrorist:

Yes, all of that stuff is in the storage closet. The tubes are thin gauge copper (about the width of your pinky finger, some of the tubes are thinner and aren't tubes at all, but appear to be solid copper wire.

Ker picks up a coil of tubing and puts one of the sealed jars under his arm. (How do you intend to fill the tube with the mineral spirits?)

My bad, I meant the glass tubes, the beakers! What the heck would I do with copper tubes anyway :) I updated the post
