Vine targets [1d6] = 6, [1d6] = 3 1-3 = Borric, 4-6 = Sokrates

The unharmed vine rears up to its full height and then snaps at Sokrates looking something like a green, hooded cobra Sokrates parries it easily with his shield.
Vine attack vs Sokrates [1d20+6] = 4+6 = 10 vs AC:15, damage [1d6] = 4 chance to entangle 2-in-6 [1d6] = 6

The other terribly damaged vine turns its attention to Borric but the huge barbarian jumps clear of its feeble grab.
Vine attacks Borric: [1d20+6] = 6+6 = 12 vs AC:15, damage [1d6] = 4, chance to entangle 2 in 6 [1d6] = 6

Marcán hews at the vine with his razor sharp falcata and severs it cleanly. The severed tip of the vine flips and flops around on the ground frantically and the stump recoils towards large bulbous mass slowly advancing on all of you.

To everyone's surprise and horror the three severed vines can be seen slowly scuttling of their own accord toward back to the writhing bulk that has emerged from the recess in the floor and now stands but 10 feet away from your intrepid band - it appears to be feeling its way across the floor atop scores of smaller vines that writhe and twist like a clutch of newly hatched snakes, headed straight for the unconscious form of Cormac.

Undaunted the dimwitted Kimmerian Sokrates and the brooding Kurgan Borric make a desperate assault against the last vital tentacle.
Borric and Sokrates's attack [1d20] = 15, [1d20+2] = 18+2 = 20, damage [2d4+2] = 8+2 = 10, [1d8+2] = 1+2 = 3
Nearly simultaneously Borric arcs his maul high over his head and brings it thundering down and pins the vine against the floor with a sickening thud, while Sokrates chops viciously and severs the vine cleanly. A strange, hateful, keening sound pierces the air from the center of the sickly mass of vines bearing down on Cormac and it shudders violently before continuing its slow and steady march.

Ker gets to do whatever it is he's thinking of doing with the sealed urn and his flask of mineral spirits

Ker continues to work at the seal with the point and edge of his sickle and after a few more moments succeeds in breaching it.

Roll a saving throw.

Ker he is holding the urn in such a way that the seal is pointed away from himself when his sickle cuts deeply enough to breach it and to his shock, something goes terribly, terribly wrong. A gout of flaming blue liquid erupts and arcs across the room where it splashes down against the floor and sends flames shooting ten feet in the air before it quickly dies down and gutters out.

Sokrates, the brave, the intrepid, the not-too-bright raises his blade high over his head and charges the lumbering bulk of writhing vines and that is bearing down on Cormac's unconscious form. The hulking Kimmerian is practically envoloped in the squirming morass but his blade finds its mark and a great gout of black fluid squirts out coating Sokrates armor and smoke begins to rise from the drenched paladin.
Sokrates charge [1d20+4] = 13+4 = 17, damage [1d8+2] = 2+2 = 4

Borric huffs and puffs and taking not of Sokrates predicament he steps back a few paces distancing himself from the abomination and reaches into his belt to pull forth a handaxe and hurl it end over end where it sinks deeply into the fleshy skin of the bulbous thing.
Borric's thrown axe [1d20] = 16, damage [1d6+2] = 4+2 = 6

clearly agitated by Sokrates, the blob contorts and reshapes itself, raising its bulk high into the air and comes crashing down but Sokrates manages to dodge to the side before being crushed.
Viny blob slam [1d20+6] = 6+6 = 12, damage [2d6] = 9

Rhenmyr drags Cormac's limp form to the dubious safety of the closet. "Get it, Ker! Just try not to roast Sokrates too."

What do you think ? :) How far is Sokrates from the main body of the vines?
The "root-stalk" mass of the animated vines is about 10 feet wide and 6 feet tall (but can apparently morph it's shape) so if you use some kind of area effect attack on it whether or not there's collateral damage depends on your attack roll. If you hurl an urn (for the sake of argument) and score a direct hit then Sokrates is safe, if you miss, then I roll a 1d12 to determine the direction it misses. think of it like a clock-face: 12 o'clock is long, 6 o'clock is short and 3 or 9 are right and left respectively. Sokrates would get hit if I rolled a 5, 6, or 7 - hypothetically speaking of course.

Sokrates turns his head at Ker's beckoning. He doesn't say anything and his helm obscures his features, but he nods once and begins to take a few cautious steps backward.

You notice that bits of his armor that were coated in the ichor of the plant-beast start falling away - mostly rings sewn to his leather that peel and tinkle like metallic raindrops against the flagstones. Furthermore, wisps of smoke continue to rise off of his body giving him an ethereal, otherworldly appearance in the dim green light cast from the vats.
