Literally an anti-setting. Anything goes. Planescape is structured, in contrast. Oh and the "what does one life matter" question is lame.
Did you ever write anything substantial on this topic? Like a big post explaining your position? I'm curious to read it. I've tried to play this game multiple times over the years, but each time something went wrong. As of my last attempt in January, the game is actually on unplayable on Windows 11, at least on my setup.

I've played all the games in the op vote and have finished a lot of them. The only game where I had trouble finding any level of fun was Starfield.

A surprisingly neutral-negative review. Most days I would've written something more butthurt.

For me, it was Torment: Tides of Numenera, one of my most anticipated games ever.

But I voted for Fallout 3 just because of the much bigger damaging impact on the genre.

Baldur's Gate. :M
This. Not because it's a particularly bad game (I mean, there are much much worse RPGs out there, BG is just juvenile and bland, and its gameplay is just a polished snorefest), but because there were too many retards claiming it was the best CRPG ever, the pinnacle of AD&D goodness, and so on. The graphics were nice, the music was kind of generic but not bad, character creation was cool, the RTS exploration and combat were really boring but perhaps the scenarios could improve later on... So I kept playing for hours thinking that the game would eventually get interesting. I felt so cheated when I finally killed Sarevok and the credits rolled, but at least it was finally over.

I feel like anyone who doesn't answer Gothic 3 simply wasn't aware of the Gothic series at that time.
The game like its predecessors is too ugly for some people to get aware of its existence. Da fcuk is this?

There were quite some disappointments for me, PoE, Oblivion, Gothic III and some other come to mind. But I feel I have to mention Dragon Age: Origins. I was tremendously disappointed by this game. Maybe it was due to the fact they marketed it as a "spiritual successor of Baldur's Gate" and I had expectations in this direction, but I just couldn't get warm with it. From the ostentative and rather juvenile use of violence (gallons of blood splattered all over from ever tiny combat sequence) to the storytelling to the uninspired game world it all felt so flat and tedious to me. Regarding quest design I got the impression that violence is almost always the only way to solve quests. And world interactivity and believability and in general NPC reaction were very disappointing. I remember when I, followed by a pack of wolves, ran in a settlement and neither the inhabitants nor the guards cared for the beasts. I lost interest after a few hours though, so I can't judge it as a whole.
