The character models are p. detailed for a top down game. Very nice.
Well, most of the isometric games we play were made for 800x600 screens, so finally seeing one made for 1920x1080 itz heavenz alright.

The concept art is fine. They communicate ideas and functionality which is what matters. Eventually, they will find the time to produce some fantastic pieces chosen from those basic concepts.

And I like the level of detail on the character. And mang: CLOTHING PHYSICS! Fuck yeahr!

Still, seeing that building render made me want to rotate it around. I wish they went with Commandos 2&3 type scene rotation.

Concept art is not the same as promotional art, or ingame art. What we've seen from Wasteland 2 is used as concept art but, also for ingame art (portraits) or it has clear promotional value as well (Andree Wallin). These ones don't have that overlap, and they do what they need to do well.

I mostly enjoyed all the massive disclaimers everywhere and their opting out of showing any colors or contrast choices. Guess they saw what happened with the WL2 screenshot, haha.

PS: Medicine Ball flail! I can dig it.

So amaualuala auamuauar? these are the setting's psuedo orcs? Humanoid pikes? Oh well, I tried colouring it to see how it would look. Didn't come out right, not right at all.

I think the lighter parts would look better with some nuance of white (like some batrachians), and the darker parts, stripes included, could be any color as long as it's not too flashy. But that's pretty much how i imagined them anyway...

I dont know about you guys... but im fairly sick of dreds. Especially when used to show someone is a badass.

Otherwise i like the art.

Honestly, the hair just somehow seems out of place. They seem to be going for some fish-hybrid. What's the point of hair on this racel? I'd rather they went Dr. Zoidberg on us.

Figured she went with dreads to accentuate the tribal nature of this orc/negroid/fish woman. I think it kind of works.

Exactly, concept artists job is to give the team ideas and designs, not necessarly the art style. Some developers hire the artist to set the style from scratch, but that's not a rule. Just remenber those concept arts from Fallout 1:

They were made by Scott Campbell, just to show some ideas. Imagine the butthurt that releasing stuff like this today would cause... that's why they heavily censor what people see, THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

Oh well, I tried colouring it to see how it would look. Didn't come out right, not right at all.
Great, but worthless. Try turning it into a 3D model for a isometric game, that may get you an ideia on how this will actually look like...

This is horrible. And of all the things to emulate from DnD/tolkien. Really, orcs?

You have unlimited creative freedom due to lack of publisher and you jump right into banalshitboringia.

I was going to hold off but really all of this is such crap.

And I liked the stuff I was seeing before this update.

:?
How it would look like with colour. It's probably going to go trough many iterations during development and even the 3d model they showed is also a subject to massive change.

Hey, im clearly talking about me. Im fed up with dreds, mkay? It has become a cliche.
Full true fullblown cliche.

going with dreds to accentuate blah, blah blah - and being a badass - is a cliche nowadays.
youre falling behind world. deal with it.

I wish that I could achieve the total innocence and lack of self-consciousness that comes easy to people that draw, such that I could create an image of a savage barbarian orcoid with cornrow dreads without realizing what I was doing

Fantasy is a genre full of clichés. You want to do something innovative, don't make games -- it's been done.

I guess I'm just not hip and trendy anymore. :?

Also, how is being a badass a cliché? What exactly do you mean by a badass? Should she be in the kitchen or knitting a sweater in order to innovate? I just see a pissed off tribal, it's not like she's jumping through a double-paned window onto a motorcycle or anything.

To be honest I haven't liked any of the character concept art. The backgrounds and models have looked OK though. Of course the char models are going to be pretty small so the derp will hopefully not be noticed.

And Dreds have become one of them. Plus it is a cliche in reality and movies and everything else. An ultra-cliche.
