The isometric view is FANTASTIC :yeah:
The work in progress is good too.
The concept art is ugly but i can understand it doesn't have to be nice. Just here to give an idea and it does that well IMO.

which is better and why?

DISCUSS!

Obsidian's house is utterly shit regarding functionality. I don't like it because is disproportionate and it gives me the Smurfs vibes. And conceptually is infantile.
Regarding the artworks, I never liked them, not because they are necessarily bad but because the models are a little disproportionate too.
I don't like this conceptual artist's work because it a little on the naive art style, it lacks maturity.
Now I am more confident that Wasteland 2 would better fit my tastes regarding aesthetics even though it will not have a photorealistic approach that I find appealing.

Wearing dreds to show youre a badass is a cliche.

What about stoners? Lots of them have dreads and few of them are badasses. I mean, can you wear dreads without being a badass cliché?

if she did it with dreds it would be a cliche. even bigger extra cliche.
:P

What would you like to see, though? Chick jumping through a window with long straight hair like a shampoo commercial? Punkrock buzzcuts? Shaved head? No head? Two heads? Armpit hair that ties in with a topknot like a protective veil? Spiky anime hair? Afro? Pigtails? Führer? One giant hair about an inch thick, like the horn of a unicorn? A unibrow combover? An upside down beard on her head?

I don't know man, hair is hair. It's not generic, it doesn't define character, it's just an accessory like everything else. Sure you can make a generic character by piling cliché upon cliché, but it's not like you can single out an element and go "Leather jackets man, wtf, haven't we had enough of that shit by now?", "Oh great, sawed off shotgun. These guys are really running out of ideas here.", "Snake skin boots huh? Haven't seen that one before.", "I don't believe it. Now he's wearing sunglasses. Who came up with this regurgitated tripe?" because eventually you'll paint yourself into a corner. In the end the hero is wearing plastic bags, fighting off bad guys with a weapon designed primarily with originality in mind, with pies for shoes and a fish-bowl on his head.

I don't know, maybe I'm missing something. I don't really watch action movies unless they're old as dirt.

stoners with dreds pfft!
total cliche.

i mean, you cant be more obvious than that.
i had a friend, he made dreds years ago, grew them to his ass long. we managed to pester him after years and years to cut his hair down - and he only did it because it got so cliche-boring to him too eventually - though he held out for very long.
and that was years ago :P

i mean... man... bob marley was ages ago.
only he had the right to wear them.

Since then... pffftt...
No really... i look at the world not noticing thats gone into clicheism and i cant believe it.

Ok, so she's not a badass -- she just smokes ganja and goes to concerts and fucks random strangers. Hardly a cliché in a fantasy setting. Dwarves can be the roadies.

I bet it got cliché boring having you guise ride his sorry ass all day. But I've always thought having dreads would be kind of cumbersome anyway, especially big ones.

Bob who?

Think of it like this. Familiarity with appearances helps establish a character within 4 seconds or less, but as the story unfolds there is no limit to the depth a character can have. By giving the audience a false sense of security with a character, thinking they know him intimately by drawing on past experience, a writer can achieve a much bigger impact by introducing character elements that oppose these first impressions. The same cannot be said about a blank-slate character, where the audience can draw no initial conclusions.

So amaualuala auamuauar? these are the setting's psuedo orcs? Humanoid pikes? Oh well, I tried colouring it to see how it would look. Didn't come out right, not right at all.

I have to agree that the concept art sucks. Those characters are awful. Especially that creature in the hooded cape. When I saw that posted here I thought that was a joke that a codexian had photoshopped, but it was serious. The weird thing is if you go to the artist's web site she has some pretty cool stuff there. It's only the stuff she has done for Obsidian that has been like this.

Stairs? My pseudo Orc PC needs dungeon wheelchair access. Obsidian, I'm very disappointed in you...
