Looking sweet...

Reminds me of ToEE lower levels of the temple.

Divinity: Original Sin
Sorry i open combat topic in this update, I liked BG and IWD combat but DAO combat is not the same at all, because in DAO when you pause and chose target for spells /combat abilities (area of effect ones) when you unpause targets are leaving area of impact but still get hit.

In BG and IWD you had to predict casting time of spells so they will be arrive at the right time and also there was no friendly fire like in DAO but without friendly fire that game was almost unplayable.

I like turn based i just finished FO1 but i know to appreciate a good RTwP like BG/IWD and apparently PE is going for this road, some of you remained with the awful taste of RTwP from DAO but is not the case here.(i hope)

Really? If I remember correctly, there was friendly fire in BG and IWD.

Yeah, friendly fire in DA:O is only in any difficulty above normal iirc (or is it there also on normal?).

Yeah, they're really aping the Infinity Engine, wow. That's not bad, but they didn't really have to go with RTwP as well. At the very least it'll probably be good for what it is, by the looks of it.

I don't know what Obsidian is doing, but the screenshot is gorgeous. And I don't want to be mean, but is looking better than BG2.

Combat generally doesn't need complex pathfinding since it occurs within a small radius and the player tends to micromanage the character's movement to a larger degree while engaged in it

It only sidesteps the problem. So it will still be terrible, but only in combat?
It's not like they're using any of the IE pathfinding code. "Character bumps into another character and gets confused" is just something they nipped in the bud.

Love the lighting in that concept piece, looking forward to seeing it given life. Would be cool if that purple generator thing produced a pulsating hum throughout the area. It's little atmospheric touches like that which draw me in.

BG graphics need to evolve to allow more interactivity :troll:

Something like a true 3d, for climbing stuff and under/over layers, even if the perspective remains fixed. And TB of course, JA2 in IE basically (or ToEE with layers and stances).

Why bother hoping? Most Codexers will eat this shit up regardless. Or pretend they like TB but then bitch about it later.

That screenshot certainly looks promising, but I am still worried we might get another IWD/IWD2, instead of another BG/BG2. Time will tell.

He talked about the combat/dialogue ratio, not copying the game.
