Which is worse: not being able to figure out how to make character creation or not being able to figure out how to make assets into a game?

If practice makes perfect, you'd think he'd at least have sorted out how to provide a product after being given funds. Most people find that to be pretty basic.

after Crispy outing him and doxxing as nazi
Oh, fuck you. I didn't "out" anyone. That entire affair was kept in-house here on Codex, and had no more effect on the game's release or lack thereof than any of the other thousands of posts about the game that were already existent.

I'm tired of morons like you blaming me for JarlFrank insisting on keeping swastikas in his Codex signature while actively attempting to promote the game he was working on. I was trying to warn him, nothing more.

Trying to warn him by posting as "Silverstain" with silver coin as avatar on RPG Watch about his account on Codex? Boomers breath like Jews, and Crispy is King Boomer

Just wanted to summarize the actors to blame for RB not releasing we know of so far:

Hobgoblin
Hobgoblin’s swinger visavis
Nazis (see Germans)
Crispy
Infinitron (who could have even thought???)
Germans
Dark Underlord (for running this shitshow of a site)
Probably some dark powers residing in the depths of the world ocean.

In my humble opinion though it’s the gaymers who are solely responsible for this failure. Pathetic 300k (iirc) euros during the kickstarter campaign. No wonder the guy kept looking for more funding. Bear buggery sells better these days.

If they wanted more they should have asked for more.
Yeah, I mean I still think it’s baffling how little money they got from bakers given the quality of the art and the overall idea. They did this cool map of the world that is million times better than anything I’ve seen in the RPGs world.
And 111k euros last I checked.
Right. I think I’m remembering the total amount along with the nazi funding they received.

I'm not sure giving them more money would have made a difference. They blew a ton on having booths at game conventions for absolutely no reason. Barkley 2 did that as well. It's like giving money to a junkie - it doesn't matter if it's $50 or $500,000, they'll just blow it all in a few months and be broke again after that.

The Gamescom booth cost 5k in total for a full week of presence and the purpose of being there was to spread awareness of the game before the upcoming Kickstarter campaign, which we successfully managed to do as the Kickstarter ended up being successful.

That was the first and only time Realms Beyond ever went to a convention.

I mean, neither "it was only $5k" nor "we went to Gamescom so our Kickstarter would be a success" demonstrates a competent use of money.

The Kickstarter did end up being a success, a lot of people we met at Gamescom did pledge to it, we handed out flyers with codes on them you could use when pledging to get some digital bonus items or something, and plenty of those were used.
All the money from Kickstarter and the government grant was used on salaries for the people who worked on the game. Plenty of maps were created, quite a few of them had several quests implemented already.

The real issue was that the game's size was too ambitious. We should have scaled it down by a lot.
Making a scaled-down mini-module with three maps and a short but replayable questline consisting of murder mystery and dungeon crawl was an idea the guy who got hired after I left (my long-lost twin brother :M) suggested when the publishing deals fell through and we needed a different source of money to continue development. The maps already existed in a finished and polished state.
The only reason it didn't come to pass was the management drama situation, where the other 50% owner of the company simply ghosted us. He wouldn't respond to emails and didn't reply on Discord either, and Hob said that if we attempted to release a small module without his agreement he would sue the company for making a decision without his input, which as a 50% owner would violate his right to have a say, so ultimately nothing was released beyond the combat beta that KS backers received. At the point we released that, he still talked to us, and all the publishing deals being canceled due to his dad's meddling hadn't happened yet.

"I sure wish I had given knobgoblin more money!" said no one ever.

It'd just be the same results for us except he'd have been able to afford to start a luxury coke habit instead of dirty street crack.
You keep jesting, but it’s obvious the guy got back to a normie job to make living.

I figure he took my money, he can take my insults that he'll probably never see too.
