"The NWN engine was horrible and melee combat sometimes took longer to resolve than in an actually PnP session."

That's a lie. A plain old fashion lie.

I also love how the 'cost' of KOTOR MMO keeps going up and up s people retell it and their bullshit gossip ways. It started at 50mil, worked up to $100mil, and now is 200mil? Fuck off, people. Next year it'll be $350mil. A decade from now after it is no more, it'll be a billion ollar cost. Fuck that bllshit internet idiocy.

"but it seemed more focused as a dating sim than an RPG"

Romance in JE was a MINISCULE part of the game. MINISCULE.

JE was reasonably successful but not comapred to other BIO games. Popualr enough to get a PC release but not enough to make it worth their while to make a sequel.

Both DA2 and ME3 were successful enough to warrant sequels.

HOW DO YOU LIKE THOSE APPLES FUCKFACE HOW DO YOU LIKE THOSE APPLES!?!

p.s. I also find it funny that people live in a make believe world where this is the first time BIo ever saw 'controevrsey'. Anyone who was there for the relases of BG2, NWN, KOTOR, JE, DA, and ME3 know that bullshit.

FFS People thought BIo was doomed when their relationship with Interplay went to shit and NWN was in 'limbo'. L0L Some thoguht the game would never be released. Fucktards!

The Mass Effect galaxy is one in which strength comes from people seeing past their differences, from sharing cultures, and from doing everything possible to avoid violence (and considering this is in service to a game containing massive destruction, that’s saying something). Dragon Age: Origins presented the possibility of overcoming systemic racism, and even rising above the class divisions imposed by smaller-minded people. Both games presented a world with far greater romantic and sexual freedom than anything seen in mainstream video games before, with same-sex, interracial, even interspecies (sapient species, you sick sick person) relationships (and in DAO’s case, orgies. No, seriously.) And at their core, they contained truly moving stories about the power of friendship and family.

Bioware games are absolutely thought-provoking and moving to someone who has never read a fucking book.

Too late princess, people have already spoken about TOR having as much as a half a billion dollars budget.

BioWare should put Mass Effect 4 on hold, and focus on this unnamed new IP. In fact, they should release at least one other new game before even considering revisiting the Mass Effect Universe, or Dragon Age 4.
Edmonton has over 350 employees, to put them all on one (or two) unproven titles would be irresponsible and an absurd risk. Another pointless article from a balding, effeminate-in-a-bad-way know-nothing with opinions.

Rewarding yet another quick money grab franchise milking attempt would be irresponsible and absurd use of my money. We opinionated assholes are horrible costumers, I know.

Count the number of sequels Ultima, Might and Magic, and Wizardry had as well as the number of titles made with the Gold Box engine between 1988-1992.

Yeah, but those were, you know, good.

Not that I particularly agree with anything this article has to say, except maybe that DA2 sucked.

That 'source' isn'ty EA dumb shit. It's an industry 'expert'. FFS

"EA said in February that The Old Republic would become profitable with only 500,000 subscribers."

EA wins again. Any myth that KOTOR MMO was a huge bomb is blown to smitherins by your fukkin' link.

L0L Codex doing Volourn's job since 2002.

OH, FFS. They weren't all good.

DA2 is better than 99% of the Wizardries, M&Ms, and yes Ultimas.

TOR was so profitable they had to shut down almost all its servers and restructure it as a free to play game in hopes of salvaging something from the mess. How long did they have to keep the 500k subscribers for to be profitable against their fixed costs? Or do you suppose that they would have been profitable on 500k box sales who all quit at the end of their free month? Do they need 500k subscribers simply to pay their maintenance staff and bandwidth costs, etc?

Notice how different the individual games were.

The game sold 2mil copies + really quick. The fact is, just ebcause it didn't sell 10mil+ copies or has million sof subscriber slike OWW does not make it a failure. If it was a failure they would have shut it down and not work on it at all. Then again, people claim ME3 and DA2 as failures depsite selling loads of copies yet turn around and brag how much of a hit AP and DS3 is when they couldn't even sell a mil. LMFAO LMFAO LMFAO And, the pubnlishers 9espciially for AP0 said FUCK OFF OBSIDIAN WHEN THEY BEGGED FOR A SEQUEL.

Then again, the Codex brags about how successful Troika's games were despite ALL THREE PUBLISHERS TYELLING TROIKA TO FUCK AND DIE... AND DIE THEY DID.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

You don't take into account that for a publisher like EA, selling 2 million from game with a monster PR campaign is a failure. That's why DA2 is a faillure. But I don't see how ME3 bombed. The game is a pile of shit, but unfortunatley it sold very good.

"Volourn, do you need help having your prescriptions refilled?"

The only prescription I 'need' is for people to take truth pills and be honest and not post bullshit.

DA2 was made in just over a year on an already made engine with no licensing fees need and sold 2mil+ copies in less than a month. It's also getting a sequel. That's a fukkin' success.

Enjoy your TOEE, BL, and Arcanum Troika Part 1 developed sequels. LMFAO

The sequels were more of the same but slightly better (or worse in some cases) except for some jumps here and there.

I wonder what new master Volourn will serve once Bioware finally goes under. He showed signs of switching over to Blizzard a while back.

L0L I'm such a huge Blizzard fanboy that I haven't played a Blizzard game since Diablo 1 on the PS. I did pick up a cheap box of SC but never took it out of the box. L0L Yet I'm a Blizzard fnaboy. XCodex - always brings the hilarity.

Wizardry 4 is the same game as Wizardry 7? U3 the same as U6? OK...
That was a single sentence reply, no need for a kneejerk response to the start of it. :)
